Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
As I understand it, it depends upon which FO has been into the theater for which the Captain is being qualified. Anyone who's not been there has historically been required to remain on the trip. If both FO's have been there, then the senior one is released by Crew Scheduling upon the LCP's recommendation.

Be company executive -> take some of huge company cash pile, invest in low performing codeshare airline -> add free capacity to that airline at the expensive of your own -> watch as low performing carrier produces record profits -> investors flood codeshare carrier with cash -> book stock gains in codeshare company as profits in your own company -> watch as your own stock increases -> sell shares in your own company -> profits!!!
This deserves it's own thread, and subsequent callouts. I wish the media reported on this kind of thing.

"Miwitawy arcwaft, miwitawy arcwaft...dis isa Chi-niece Navy...we out of rice. Yew go now!"
Dangerous game they're playing. Their gov't is in HUGE trouble, so they are pro-actively seeking confrontation with the US in order to stir nationalism at home.

And into vacation, MLOA, etc. Bear in mind that Crew Tracking only knows the rotation you're currently flying. They neither know nor care what you have coming up next. All of that info belongs to Crew Scheduling.
If you are being rerouted into a hard non-fly day, you may, if you wish, so inform Crew Scheduling of the conflict, at which point they will be tasked to "make every reasonable effort to resolve" such a conflict. (23 L. 7.) In other words, if they can find another pilot to fly your reroute and get you back to base in time, they are required to do so.
OTOH, being rerouted into a vacation day(s) can be a pretty good deal, depending upon the circumstance. (7 F. 8.)

Tracking only cares about the flight operating. They don't care who is in the seat. If they have you doing it, oh well. Skeds, on the other hand, is looking longer term with regard to off days and how the reroute impacts flying down line. Two different agendas.
If a pilot in this circumstance feels that "every reasonable effort" has not been made, he should certainly document the issue and call the Scheduling Committee forthwith.
