You just got hired here, and you constantly bleat about why we should give up QOL to solve the company's problems. Why?

Well that is the not way it is and I see no reason change it.

If I bid a trip it belongs to me. If the company wants to use my seat then pay me to release me. I now have the option staying put. IF I see a trip I like and want to fly that trip it should be at my doing not the company.

I see this as the company wants this change but I'm sure it will go out the window as a good faith to get other things

Exactly not sure why he is ready to deal to give up something for no reason in a time of huge profits.

If we loose something we will not get it back when times are bad.

Unacceptable, IMO.
I think people are underestimating the actual true staffing cost. This is why the company would want it, less total FO's required in every category, in every base. Were not talking about a small training bump, they're looking ahead for the next 10+ years and there is going to be a lot of training to be done.

If that is the companies goal to hire less and they pay everyone more for the right, doesn't it come down to how much?

I mean if they offered an LOA today for this change in exchange for 10% pay raise for everyone, who doesn't think that wouldn't pass?

So everything that the company would want, we call a "concession" but does have a price in negotiations.

I think it's category dependent. The WS crowd that dropped their entire schedule and picked up trips on WS, like on Hockeys 88 category, was always senior and now bidding LCA is the best deal they've ever had- so I bet it is senior. It's better than rolling thunder, way way better.

I mean a cursory look at the 88 reasons report and I see guys in the 35% range getting LCA, but to have your entire line bought out from under you and picking up GS, that requires some seniority.

Which basically means we have something and they're asking that we have less of it. So why are we doing concessions?

Not sure why anyone wants to give an inch on this one unless you really really think "well I don't get to benefit so..." Maybe for a new hire that's the case.

???? So a bottom 90% guy will fly with a LCA. That's not much of a change for the 90%...same trip, same pay. Personally, I'm not against changing the contract on this as long as they can find a way to allow an FO to not be assigned recovery flying. I think someone mentioned a method of assigning trips to LCA that would take care of this.

Perhaps if they did get this concession from us it would benefit FOs in anther way as well: Super senior FOs bidding up to captain thus improving the seniority of the bottom 90%.
