Actually maybe he did. I dont know. I met him. At a wedding near Athens. He looked just like that with the paint on his head. I'm not making this up.

Standby, this may change (which happens all the time on these newsletters) but for now:

Last year before NYC 717 dropped in on the AE:
The big unknown right now is what Network will do with the 717 on the West Coast. If there is no movement of the 717 towards the West Coast, the next 717 base would likely be NYC. However, if there is growth out West, we would most likely need a West Coast base and the 717 cannot support four pilot bases, so that would take NYC off the table. We will focus on ATL and DTW 717 pilots at this time. Network will provide us with updates in the coming months and we will pass on the information
January this year:
DTW: With 50 crews on the 717,the categories are set for the summer. Based on the current plan, an additional 20 DTW -717 crews could be added by December 2015. However, if the 717 begins west coast service the aircraft will likely be routed though DTW for maintenance and we could see a sizable increase in the DTW-717 pilot count. DTW has 38 pilots turning 65 in 2015.

A few pages back I posted some napkin math that leads me to think we'll see it on the next bid, with a note explaining how marketing pulled this last minute. With PDX and LAS added to the mix, this shows enough commitment to the west coast to start up the category. I think we are looking at adding a few more 717's as well.

Wow.

Now, do Brady and Belichick both retire... or try to be the only team to win 5 SB's next year??
I'm willing to bet that those egos will definitely go for #5. It'll be a tough row to hoe though.

Let's start with the "Fail Mary" debacle a few years ago and conclude with the championship game a few weeks ago. Besides, maybe its a west coast thing, but being surrounded by their fans is just insufferable. Not exactly modest in victory, if you get my drift. There are a lot of SEA transplants in SoCal (and they let you know it). Seeing them eat a little crow feels good this morning.

I wouldn't place a whole lot of praise at Carroll's feet for his accomplishments at USC either. I'm really not a college football fan, and I really don't care for USC, but he's generally vilified in these parts. He boogied out of town on the heels of sanctions that almost killed the program. Their championship and wins were redacted and Reggie Bush gave back the Heisman Trophy. Not exactly a legacy to be proud of.

So, "hate?" No. Just happy when karma makes an appearance. And that picture of Richard Sherman crying? Priceless.
To piggyback on this....Don't forget Carol talking about how they deserved the win against the Pack with the replacement referees. Worst call in history, ever! A decent coach would have said, "sometimes the call just goes your way and we'll take the win" or something like that. But he ranted on about how good they played against the Pack (they were outplayed the whole game) and that they totally deserved that victory (which they didn't). They only won because of replacement referee buffoonery! Karma is definitely a *****!

The Patriots love making it close, don't they?

I think all 3 of their prior SB wins were on last minute field goals, and the two they lost were both on last minute heroic catches by the other team, and then they nearly lost last night on the same type catch.

But this SB finally went their way...they sure make it harder than it should have been!

I heard Brady said he wants to keep playing into his 40's!

I think the new list puts us over the merged list.

I wonder if they're questioning the eventual size of the airplane needed between West Coast markets. The routes out here tend to be between big cities as opposed to the East. There are definitely exceptions I know, but maybe a 737 is better suited most of the routes they're adding lately. Just a thought but maybe along with training issues on the 717 they're wondering if they should just increase the size of the 737 base instead after testing the waters on a larger aircraft this summer? I'd love to see it though. Anything to break this stagnation logjam.

It's interesting to see Americans fleet plan numbers. Not that many more pilots but a quite a few more planes. I nice cache of widebodies to boot. I think even after retiring a number of aircraft they will still have well over 900 mainline airplanes. Anybody else have any numbers on this?

777-200: There are no planned changes to the 47 Boeing 777-200 aircraft in its fleet.

777-300ER: American will take delivery of one new aircraft in the first and fourth quarters of this year. With these two new additions, American will have 18 777-300ER aircraft in its fleet.
AA-787-3

787-8: American is due to take delivery of three Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners every quarter of this year. If all goes according to plan, American will have a strong fleet of 12 787s by the end of the year.
