Shiz, let me throw this in the pot. Someone mentioned here being able to trade sick hours as a paid apd for qualified personal drop such as a family medical issue (sick or hospitalized kid, spouse, etc). Something that's verifiable and approved but doesn't meet the definition of you being the one that is sick.

If you want to keep the current sick leave policy, you could change everyone's reset date to their birthday. It may not solve any abuse problem but you wouldn't have such a massive amount of sick calls during the April-May timeframe. It would also make it easier to identify any abuser.

That's an interesting twist, anyway we can get a paid APD is better than what we have now!

Although, now that I think about it, as more states start to have "family care" laws that let you use sick time for a family member it might be wasted negotiating capital if we get it via a gov't action in the future.

There was a FO at NWA that had a program that you could enter today's date, your retirement date, current accrued sick leave and how many hours you wanted to get paid per month and it would calculate the day you could go out sick and use your last amount of sick leave the day before you had to retire.

If I have 2 days on call a the end of the month, say 28 Feb thru 01 Mar, can I bid 02-03 Mar as X days or do they automatically have to be on call days because of the min 4 days on call parameter? Thx

Denny
I have been bidding reserve for over 4 years straight for QOL, I bid a line 1 to 2 times a year. A new month you can bid what you want, it doesn't look a the min day parameter. Just bid the 1st of the month off.
I like having my X days at the end of the month, so when I greenslip I get PB days in my bank. Then the next month you bid blocks of 3 days on call, put your PB days on the 2nd day on call, you are now only good for a day trip which usually gives you all 3 days off for 1 PB day. Great QOL tip
Denny, W. Shatner pics Pats on Sport Center. You need to change your pilotcentral pic.

Just AWESOME. Most profitable time in the airlines history with no end in sight, debt down by 50-70% and you guys are taking about concessions!

No wonder we get "cost neutral" contracts.

I'd love to hear a constructive idea in regards to the current discussion!

It goes a lot better when you add something meaningful instead of unadulterated douchebaggery.

Ah, some ALPA arrogance.

In shiznit's ALPA-centric world, if you're not bringing meaningful concessions to the table or solving the company's problems, you're a douchebag.

Yeah, but that actually requires some intellectual effort...and it is not nearly as fun.

How about we just leave the sick policy right the way it is. Its fine. Even if there are a few abusers that amount is small. I like the flexibility we have with the 100 hrs unver, yet it isn't so onerous on either party cause its only 100 hour's. Its fair to both sides.
