Anyone have any insight on if the company wants a common 330/350 category?
Clearly not a definitive answer, but when I was in CQ last month the guys there were talking about applying to instruct in the 350 category. I specifically asked if it was going to be common with 330, they said not as it stands. They do expect transition courses from 330-350 to be extremely short, like we currently do between 320-330. (A week or so of training).

So, is it going to be 3-4 per year, like with the 330's we have coming now?

Are you sure?

That looks a lot like the Bone that Buzz used to fly, you can clearly see the bombay door on the side, and look closely, you can see the Afterburner, mounted on the tail.

And when did they remove two of the four engines?

It's legal but I would not call it ethical. Easy fix would be the senior original line holder on the trip stays home unless both guys dropped it.
There are some very ****ed off FO's over this issue!

Don't the 'victim' F/Os think to ask 'Why' the swap offer/request is being presented to them? That would tend to clear the issue, IMMHO.

In this scenario it's an international trip with 2 F/O's that is going to have a TOE on it. The senior perp will see that and try to swap his (non-TOE) trip with the JUNIOR of the two, if he is senior to the other F/O, the one who would be let off the trip, so now HE gets to stay home, the junior F/O flies the better trip and the guy who thought he was going to stay home....has to go do trash bags and water bottles on a TOE.

When I was a mid seniority MD11 F/O, this would happen all the time if I was lucky enough to get a TOE trip and be the 'senior' of the two F/O's. The way I put a stop to it was, I called the number one F/O, and swapped with him, after I saw that the douche F/O had swapped with the more junior F/O and I was going to have to go, vs. stay home. My buddy, number 1 F/O, got to stay home and I flew his trip, the best trip in the base. Douche had to get the trash bags and water bottles.

MY APOLOGIES to anyone I offended yesterday-- not my intent.
I clearly screwed up what was a light-hearted attempt at humor, to the point where some folks seriously thought I was advocating physical violence in the workplace and PMed me threatening my job. And several folks replied in the thread offended so clearly the post wasn't perceived as the satire/joke it was intended as-- my fault, sorry to have ruffled feathers and riled guys up.

It was intended to be a joking "that's a bad idea" post in an intentionally "over the top" tone, and I thought it would be obvious to all readers. The whole thing, as Bucking Bar alone apparently noticed, was a paraphrase from Monty Python's "The Holy Grail", where the Knights of Ni respond "over the top" and threaten to kill and eat the Sir Robin. Apparently not everyone is as conversant with the movie, as I thought "And should be beaten about the head and shoulders with a herring if not worse" would make everyone reading the post say "Oh, he was parodying Monty Python here", as it's the only place in history where anyone was ever threatened with death by being beaten with a herring (fish).

While I do have a serious opinion on allowing new changes to the swap board, that post wasn't intended to seriously convey it. Again, my sincere apologies for what was obviously a poorly executed joking post.

The victim is the senior FO. The swap occurs with the junior first officer. The senior guy has no clue until he does not get the 7PM call releasing him from the trip. Note I said TOE. The junior FO is more then happy to trade his 16 hour AMS trip for a 20 hour FCO trip ect...

OK, my bad. I better understand/remember this drama. Thanks.

Now, IF the senior-->junior F/O wants to get nasty, he might develop an 'eye problem,' and he'd stay home, right? Wouldn't the ultra-senior F/O now fly, or would it go out to a W/S or reserve?

(No dog in the hunt, but the mechanics are interesting!)

That would work too, but then he'd have to burn some sick leave. Of course, getting screwed like that could make you sick...
