The SLC CP office put out a "hot topic" item that said scheduling was not happy with blanket greenslips and guys not answering their phones.

I understand that there is nothing contractually wrong with putting a blanket green slip for the month into PCS, but "spiritually" I don't think it's right. Meaning, it's not fair to the schedulers trying to get a flight covered or other pilots that are waiting around for a green slip but may not be able to take it once the call comes down to him because now it's an hour later and the scheduler needs the pilot there immediately (I for one live over an hour from the airport).

I think the green slip system is a great part of our contract, but I think there's room for improvement. For example, I know I've missed out on green slips for the next day when I was flying at the time. I'm curious if it would be possible to accept a trip while flying, similar to how reroutes are sent.

Thanks to all on the legality and decorum of "blanket green slips." Great info!

Not happy and illegal are two very different things.

And no, I'm not even close to retirement so it's not self serving.
Certainly better than what we have now. The only good thing about our current system is that I have saved $50 a year since I retired.

I agree. I try to put in qualifiers to weed out the stuff I know I won't take. 90% of the time I take what they offer although I always let it go to VM and check on it before I take it.

If you can see that GS's are being tossed out and you will be flying, you can call scheduling and tell them to put whatever they have on your line and you don't need to acknowledge it. They will usually honor that request. If it isn't time critical, they are suppose to wait until you land and then give you time to ack the trip....they don't always do that though.

Default AE question

Seat lock is up March 1st. Can I bid off the plane on the early January AE? Or do I have to wait until an AE that comes out after March 1st?

Thanks.

Hmmm... How do you not pay the $50?

The earliest conversion date on the AE has to be after your seat lock expires, for you to be eligible to bid in that AE. A Jan. bid will most likely have some Feb. conversions (Jan.31 actually) so you won't be eligible to bid in that one. If however the first conversion isn't until March 1, you should be good to bid.
