Yeah, I posted some game changer tech a few months ago. The bottom line is we are going no where due to corruption in all levels of society.

Good thing we're refleeting and getting thousands of them at insane costs.

Its only money though, and we can print more without any side effects. Weeeeeeeeee!

The bad thing about that is we will miss out on a lot of top tier applicants next year because a significant majority of those 50 will be no interview flows and SSP/EtD/whatever its called this week.

That leaves the entire field to compete for a few spots a month for much of the year, even though we're hiring a lot.

The good news is the reasoning for how the numbers are shifted points to accelerated hiring to staff agressively for summer, possibly in excess of the original delivery plan. May or may not be more AC, but it appears it'll be at least the same number of AC sooner.

No, the reason we're going no where is because there is no where to go that's worth the effort and expense.

Look, I dig exploration and space tech for its own sake, but it takes BIG bucks.

Until it takes not so big bucks, or there is a promise of a huge payday for someone, robots will be getting all the glory. It took the promise of gold and riches to lure explorers to get into leaky boats, for months at a time.

16th century Europe make not have been as groovy as it is now, but it sure beat getting scurvy, eating crap food, drinking foul water, enduring brutal treatment, only to wind up sunk and forgotten on the far side of the world. So why did they do it?

Money.

Nice hyperbole, but Mars doesn't scale nearly as well. The distance is absolutely massive compared to the moon. And they have weather to deal with there that we know very little about...100mph dust storms on landing anyone? And long term radiation. And massively more layers of long term redundancy, etc. The cost differental is orders of magnitude greater, and we're broke. Big time broke. We simply can't put this on the "Bank of China credit card" as someone once put it (before he got one with his name on it and went on the biggest spending spree in human history) and then justify it by calling it an "investment" and promising unrealistic gains.

A manned government mission to Mars right now is financially stupid, irresponsible and premature. We can't afford to simply say "space = innovation = ROI = awesome progress" and pull the trigger on anything and everything just because its cool. I'm in favor of continued space exploration, big time. But blowing that much money on a manned mission right now is stupid. We will learn way more spending way less by investing our limited dollars on unmanned missions and satellite telescopes than we would ever learn with a bloated debt tumor budget putting a human on Mars right now.

Keep in touch with that guy...not too many investment advisors that have their clients interests at heart...and put your money with him again when he lands on his feet.

My dad was a pharmacist and owned his own pharmacy for 30 years. He sold his business and put his money with a neighbor of my sisters. This F-ing guy put my parents life savings in some high fee actively managed mutual funds that did ok but gave the broker the biggest commissions. My dad is back to work part time, because he should have been in safer investments than growth stock mutual funds in retirement

60 mainline aircraft deliveries.. 6 crews per bird would be 12 x 60 = 720 pilots needed.

720 + 300 = 920

I bet we end up closer to the 966-1000 in 2015 again when it's all said and done, but there's only "authorization" for 125/mo through march.

Total WAG napkin math on this.... I'm probably way wrong.
I think that's probably right. The latest "official" hiring number I heard was *aprooval at this time* for 400…BUT "at this time" is through spring. They don't committ to a year long hiring plan, really ever, so its always going to be piece mill. Estimates are for tenatively at least 800, although only 400 have been approved through spring. Obvously more will be approved. Even 800 is insufficient based on what we know, so another 1000ish year seems very likely.

There is really no level playing field for Delta hiring, almost all of it is the Veteran hiring program, with the flow/SSP hiring programs.

Either way though things should balance out soon as the last of the CPZ flows occur in the coming year and a half or so. Mesaba flows are done. EtD is done (lol) and hiring in 2016 and beyond shows no sign of tapering.
