That is my understanding, too. Once you have funded the HSA, it's yours. Like a checking account, only just for medical expenses.
TRicare doesn't care if you pay your premiums with pennies or from your HSA. In fact, you can write a personal check for any medical expenses, and reimburse yourself thru direct deposit straight from your HSA into your personal bank account. Tricare and your previously funded HSA don't care the other exists.
If you set up the HSA with Optum Bank (UHC's money laundering arm)--the only option thru Delta--you can also invest the HSA in a limited selection of mutual funds once it reaches a certain threshold ($2000, I believe.)
I'd also recommend jug135's advice. Max out the HSA every year and make the $1000 catch up contributions once you're 55.
This is not tax advice, dyodd, etc.

Point of order. I was a Jan 2001 hire, and was just getting off reserve at Express in August of 01. No 2001 hire was able to hold captain.
MD has asked for unity.
If our MEC chooses the release our opener to the line pilots, I believe our unity will increase in a very significant way.
Also, it will send a clear message to management and increase our leverage.
Every ALPA negotiator who has ever served will tell you all the power comes from the unity of the line pilots. Sharing the opener will increase our confidence and show that we are not going to have a repeat of C2012.

Yup, recalled from furlough, to Captain!
I was keeping a close eye on Express because at the same time it started up, I was being displaced out of BOS as the base was closing. I seriously thought about putting in a bid for Express Capt. because I would have been number 1 on it. What kept me from bidding it was, the pay!
Express 737 Capt. paid $100/hr. but it came with a two year freeze, when all our other bids were a 1 year freeze. I didn't bid it because if I didn't like it, I'd be stuck there for 2 years.
Instead, I bid MD11 F/O out of ATL, commuting to ATL to fly 3 on, 4 off, to Gatwick or Frankfurt or Narita...at $148/hr.
The thing that pushed me over the edge was, just before the Big Bid (1996) closed, I flew with a Capt. who had been an L15 F/O prior. I asked him which I should bid; NYC MD88 Capt, LGA 727 Capt., Express Capt. or MD11 F/O.
He said, "Bid International! It's like working for a different airline!"
So I did, and I was glad I did!
The support we just got from the current administration will be of far greater benefit than the dollars from a very few, if any, passengers who will not buy a ticket on Delta because of taking a position.

Delta supports lots of things in the public that are polarizing. This is no different and is obviously a political move of some sort.

On our radar screen: Ex-Im Bank, NAI. We need support, we give support. EOS.
Some people who don't like Obama would like the corporation to make a stand that shows disdain for Obama. For zero gain. Good thing they're not running the show, and someone more reasoned and pragmatic is.
I agree entirely.

This executive action, however, is being talked about in most households across the country and is extremely polarizing.
It would have been better to keep shut on this issue.
