Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Not to mention no biometric B.S. for the DPMP. Strengthening the DPMP was one of my major wants for the next contract. That's money in your pocket right there.

DPMP for a single guy is a no brainer. For a couple, it's a pretty simple decision.
When you throw a single child into the mix, the decision becomes harder unless you have braces or something like that coming up.
For a family with several kids, DPMP is back to no brainer.
iceman,
A friend of mine from the Reserves went from being #1 at PAA's regional (Ransome Dash 7) to PAA, thence to DL on the A310 and later retirement. Anything's possible.

Now the next step is to get a common type rating with...all Airbus equipment.
Go to training twice in your career, once as a new hire on the A319-320-321 for domestic ops, and then a quick 'differences' course for the A330-350 and International ops.
Don't think Richard's -not- looking at that possibility, long term.
Our present fleet plan is a mess and costing Delta billions per year just in manning, reroutes, dead heading, training, retraining and spare parts. Both Pilots and Mechanics. Now that Delta is making money, it's time to clean up that mess.
Boeing really dropped the ball when they didn't make the 'new' 737's just like the 75-76-777's.

About 3 months before we filed for bankruptcy, I had the then CEO on board going ATL-AMS. Jerry came up to the cockpit prior to pushback to say Hi. So we started in on him, asking all kinds of questions. One of them had to do with our future fleet. He said in the long run, Delta only wants 2 fleet types, 1 for Domestic, one for International.
At the time, the 787 was the new jet everyone was talking about. He said that if Boeing would build a similar, smaller, carbon airplane to replace the 737, with the same cockpit, then Delta would buy the 787 for our International fleet, and the 797 (the carbon replacement for the 737) for our entire domestic fleet.
Imagine the cost savings if the entire fleet was a single type rating, and they shared most of their parts, and nobody ever had to dead head cross country to get to the only jet they are qualified on.
Want to know why SW is so efficient?
It's because they DON'T operate one of everything ever built, like we do.
All their pilots are qualified on all of their airplanes.
All their mechanics can fix all their airplanes, and all the parts fit all their airplanes.

This is probably the biggest reason that wide body order was 100% Airbus, from the ALPA web site:
Stop US Loans to Foreign Airlines Who Don't Need Them
The Export-Import Bank is supposed to finance export deals that support the US economy, not take away US aviation jobs. However, it is loaning money to government-sponsored foreign airlines that already have unlimited access to cash and cheap fuel. These foreign airlines are using these loans, backed by US taxpayers, to increase their fleet and capacity in order to steal routes from US airlines. It’s time to reform the bank.

Wow.... RA said several years ago to never give a manufacturer 2 in a row. Well that's 3 in a row for Airbus. That whole Ex-Im thing and 787 fiasco must really be in his craw still.
I'd be willing to bet that the 350 will be a common type to the 330, and going to the big french jets from the little ones is only a 2-3 week conversion.
I'm not complaining! Sounds like this is 50 airplanes to replace the parking of 24ish. That's not a bad trade, but the big bird needs to pay whale pay for what it's replacing.
It'll be interesting to see the delivery timeline.
Oui oui, Fifi!
