Strategery question. For December, my category has blue days over xmas and I have a trip starting xmas day. Would I be better off trying a PD or a swap for a trip the 26th to get the 25th off?

Good idea.

On to a new page with (hopefully) no giant pictures.

PDs run way before swaps. PD your trip and WS the one you want, and hope they don't go neg before they get to your seniority #

Best strategy would be to do both.

PDs come before swaps in the PCS run so if that gets denied then you still might get the swap.

The Required/Available numbers fluctuate all through the computer run.

edit: Dirtdiver beat me to it. Yup. PD comes first.

Not enough took it apparently. Or it didn't help much.
Still more displacements coming off the whale next year.

The Mad Dog and 717 drivers are in heaven lately.
For the top half of the seniority list, the beatings continue.

Air France and Virgin are killing us with the loss of all our old point to point stuff into Europe.
I hope the MEC keeps that in mind during these Joint Venture negotiations that are going on right now.

Depending on how important it is to get Christmas off, APD's go before PD's and if the numbers are blue they will not limit the APD. If the numbers are close, then most likely someone senior to you will get a PD before you and the numbers will go even before it gets to you. Then your PD will be denied and your swap will also be denied sticking you with a Christmas trip.

So, if you have an APD you can use it and you will go before everyone requesting a PD or a swap. Good way for a junior guy to drop Christmas. I've used that twice and been successful.

Does getting a trip dropped for OE increase your max pickup or does it stay the same because you are still getting paid for the trip?

I should know this, but I don't. I usually just stay home and don't look, but I need some $$$ for the holidays. My max pickup is under 10;30 right now. I have a 5-day they will drop sometime today, but would like to pick up more than a 1-day.

I had one a few months ago and it still counted towards my P/U limit if I remember correctly.

Also, they usually won't cut you loose until at least 1900 the day before the trip (not sure if that's Mecca time or base time) so that will tie your hands for WS'ing on those 5 days until it is removed from your line.
