Thanks for the input. I've hated UHC with a raw, unbridled passion ever since my wife stopped working, which took us away from the relative safety of BCBS, in to the clutches of the UHC beast.

I ALSO hate the math under the Gold HRA, and I find having to trade privacy for the full HRA to be abhorrent.

So, I'm not really happy, and thinking hard about the DPMP.

My question is this: other than having different deductibles, and premiums, is there any difference in the way UHC approves or disapproves procedures under the DPMP. For example, do you have to deal with Optum when using your chiroprator?

It's funny, but not totally true. We've always made a conscious effort to exclude politics and religion.

130's mistake was to walk in this establishment, and (perhaps accurately) call us freakin' idiots. Only us freakin' idiots get to call each other freakin' idiots. Which makes him a freakin' idiot. Which makes him one of us, now.

I vastly preferred BCBS as the administrator, but I haven't run into too many problems with UHC, and, in fact, they approved some items pretty quickly when I had my doubts. I haven't had any in-network/out of network issues (with the one exception of Physical Therapy providers).

I had one medium-ish surgery, one medium-ish out-patient procedure, and a pooper-snoop, and everything was covered with no hassles, including multiple MRI's, CT's, X-rays, and all the happy fun time that goes with that. My experience echoes yours to a T. In all cases I picked the Doc, Surgeon or specialist directly with zero hassle. I see absolutely no reason to change.

Disclaimer: Not married, no kids, no recurring medical issues or long-term prescription needs. Obviously not many fall into this category, so YMMV, DYODD.

FYI: I called Delta Health Direct yesterday and spoke with a friendly lady about the 2015 Benefits Flyer. I asked her a bunch a questions and she didn't really have the answers. They(3rd party provider) have not received the copy of the booklet from Delta yet. She did mention that this was a mass mailing of the basic options and if we (pilots) were eligible for a different options (like DPMP) we should be getting supplental information prior to the open enrollment window.

I am just hanging out on reserve today, so I plan on calling the union benefits specialist and HR to see what I can find out. I just don't thinks it's right for the company to put a polished marketing campaign on benefits and leave out a contractual required medical plan for pilots.

I have been with the DPMP, DPMP option N, and the NWA contractual medical plans since 1996 and have never had a problem. I haven't been to a chiropractor under the current plan so YMMV. You can call Delta Health Direct, but I am not sure if they will know either.

Hey, whenever we all see each other out in the real world, we should have a secret greeting (kinda like a secret handshake)... "Hey, you freakin' idiot!"

See, C130, you started something! By the way, welcome to Delta!

Freakin' Idiot can be the code word, but we already have a secret handshake; the classic underboob squeeze, and the secret sign is of course; the Shocker!
