Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I guess I'm a little sensitive about this subject. I routinely fly with guys that think I have some big pension waiting for me because "the north guys got to keep their pension." They are either surprised or think I'm wrong when I tell them what my pension is actually worth.
Never having put in for a GS (I'm a newbie), I have a question about what the "conflict" means. Let's say I have a 3-day trip on 20-22nd. I want to move it to 18-20th, but the swap won't take due to coverage. If I put in a GS for the 18-20th, can it get awarded? Is that "with conflict?" What happens to the trip I was awarded on the 20-22nd, just back to Open Time? Thanks for the help!
I strongly recommend avoiding green slips if it costs you to miss time with your family, especially on special occasions. You never get that time back.
I was in the cockpit commuting to work and the captain was talking about how he skipped trick-or-treating with his son to fly a 4 day green slip during C2K. He said he couldn't turn down the $10,000 the trip paid vs spending time with his son. I felt sorry for the guy as to me my time with my kids is priceless. To him, it's obviously not. It didn't surprise me that he was doing this with over 1000 pilots on furlough. His priorities are completely different than mine. You'll live a much happier life with priorities like mine vs guys like that.

So is there no other way to move the trip dates without swapping with a friend to line up the dates? Still learning...
You can swap with the pot to move a trip but if reserve days are capped on the days of your trip being dropped, the swap will be denied due to the dreaded "capped reserve days" reason. You can also put your trips up on the swap board and hope that someone picks them up. You also have 1 APD per year that they can not deny unless reserve coverage is extremely low, below 25% required, or if it's a major holiday. You have unlimited personal drops and if reserve coverage is above required levels then you can simply just drop the trip. Not sure what you are asking or trying to do but I listed a few ways to get rid of an unwanted trip.
Thanks for the reply! I was just looking to see if I could free up a day on the calendar by swapping trips, not dropping any. You pretty much summed up what I thought, so thanks for confirming it for me. I'll mess around with it a bit and see what I can do. The PCS gouge was not very helpful!

If some folks want to chase the money, fine. But don't freeze out other guys who think time with their families is worth more than some extra money.
We must insist on QOL gains with our raises.

Can anybody point me to the place on Deltanet or ALPA that lists the ATL Delta hotel rates please?
