Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Yes. I could take any one of the 12,000 Delta pilots and teach them to drive a truck in less than 2 weeks. I have guys who have been truck drivers for years who can't fill out a simple fuel log correctly. Their is absolutely no comparison between the two or EVERY single truck driver in the USA would be an airline pilot. There is a reason why each of us are where we are at. We belong to a group that many dream of being in, but few have the skills and ability to join. Without our professionalism, dedication, and extremely specialized training, the traveling public would be far less safe these days. Sorry about all the truck driving stuff Alan.
I was neither disagreeing nor agreeing with, nor attempting to obfuscate (whatever that means), anything. Just trying to keep a discussion factually based.
When there is an issue about which we truly have cause for concern, it does not help that cause to exaggerate the issue by making factual misstatements.

I'm about to loose my Greenslip virginity excited and little nervous wish me luck!!!
Hey, I heard there was a truck discussion going on today. Am I too late? I love trucks. Dogs love trucks. I love dogs. I used to know a Captain who drove the big rigs on his off days. He had a dog too. Weird.
Last post here. I've operated in both worlds, and I can tell you that in reality the way schedules get worked out to be legal with the new DOT truck driving rules, they have a much less fatiguing job than us. I've done both and I feel more rested after 4 days of truck driving than a 4-day domestic rotation. I think it is mostly because of the more consistent schedule than anything. Our sleep cycles get hammered in this job and that takes its toll more than working long days that start and end at the same time every day.
I think you guys tend to over-estimate the value of our frozen pension. Have you ever asked a north guy what his frozen pension is worth? For a very small group, it's a good number, but for most of us it's just beer money...and we can't take it at 60 and keep working like the south guys. Mine is worth about 7500. Per year, not per month. Bottom line, we really aren't very different in our retirement situations, and highlighting the differences doesn't serve us well going forward. We all need a lot more.
Don't do it! Only one little taste of the Greenslip and you are hooked. I've thought about calling the Delta Pilots Assistance Hotline to see if they have any professionals that could help with a GS addiction. Before long one is not enough, you've got to keep going for more. Eventually all of your holidays and weekends are spent looking at your phone waiting for a call. Whenever your phone does ring your heart rate jumps so much your wife thinks you just finished PlyoX. Just don't do it......it's not worth it.

That is so true. I have turned down three green slips and an inverse assignment recently. One of the green slips coincided with my anniversary and the rest would have prevented me from attending my wife's grandmother's funeral. I seriously considered the green slip instead of our anniversary dinner. I could have bought a nice piece of jewelry and still been ahead...and I'm on first year pay!
