Bidding after IOE/TOE
Hey all,
Finally bid off the mighty 88. I have IOE and TOE scheduled this month and ending on Nov 1st. How does a currently non-qualified pilot bid in the month that he/she is projected to be qualified? Last time I did this I had the choice of a blank line or reserve. Am I allowed to bid a line or subject to reserve? Thanks for all the input.
Edit: I am able to hold a regular line at my seniority leve

Very interesting second campaign letter from Jay Heppner. The first one was pure blather that said almost nothing and that apparently fell flat. This second letter takes a play out of Heidi's playbook. Especially this part:
Furthermore, the current ALPA leadership team has made comments about how the large passenger carriers have mature, rewarding contracts and that big overhauls aren’t in the cards. From my perspective, there will always be room for improvement in our members’ wages and working conditions. Some airline properties have only had one contract since their losses in the bankruptcy era. Furthermore, there are still significant issues for our brothers and sisters in the Fee For Departure world in the areas of pay, job security and career advancement. Let us also not forget that our cargo brethren operate in the shadow of the “cargo carve-out” on rest and have their total compensation under attack in negotiations. The one binding thread in our collective experience over the last 15 years is that we have all suffered. We made tremendous sacrifices to ensure our companies’ viability and now vigor. Why should we be satisfied when only a few among us have received recompense and restitution for our pain?
This is the first time I've heard Heppner separate himself from Kim Jong Moak. I'll bet the dear leader is not happy.

You guys that use the PBS desktop app, do you have to download a new version every month? I get a "This version is out of date" every month.
Ten hours is a big deal. Kuddos to the FAA on agreeing that Part 121 pilots need as much rest as a Part 135 pilot.
And personally duty time is more fatiguing than flight hours. I mean long legs are boring and thus fatiguing but on many given four and five leg days I sit in the 717 seat for longer than I sat in an any ER flight (including JFK-AMM) and for half the flight time.
Duty hours should be limited more than flight hours. Not one or the other, both, but duty hours first.

MD88 -90 cockpit upgrade appears over.
It appears Delta and Innovative Support Services have canceled the cockpit upgrade. Wonder what this means for the fleet? I cannot imagine with fuel prices diving downward that the fleet will be replaced anytime soon. Perhaps Honeywell or someone else will be supplying a new screen and software interface. Thoughts? See the link below for news release.

5 days of waking up and going to bed at different times each day, 4-leg days with no breaks for food, sleeping in a hotel that has crummy AC or a high school group running the halls, you guys know the drill. Our job is much more fatiguing than a truck driving job.

For C2015 we should require that every airplane in the fleet should be more capable than a 1978 Cessna 172N with some avionics upgrades.

ISS was never able to make it work to the company and FAA's satisfaction. It was installed in one of the sims for testing... eventually their setup was removed and the cargo company never upgraded the engine instruments.
Apples to bananas.
FtB... Nice Rack! It sure would be nice to see a more modern avionics in commercial jets.
