Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Is that the management equivalent of "We'll get em next time"?
Guys, please watch for straggling non-revs on last flights of the night. We were late to our flight to an outstation last night due to missing a wide open flight to ATL (over 50 seats open) filling up with hk's 10 min prior to departure (next flight was a little late so they moved everyone up). Our flight to the outstation had a mx plane swap so we thought we had a chance (we did), but we didn't get on. We arrived at the gate to find the agent in the jetway and the plane still fueling. I waved in the window to no avail while watching this aircraft fuel for 15 minutes. Plane ended up pushing 27 minutes after we arrived at the gate. I know our company doesn't care about non-revs, but I was disappointed in our employees. I know i was seen by a ground personnel because he waved, then walked up the jetway. I would never expect anyone to delay a flight for a non-rev, but I do expect our agents to put people on when it will not delay the flight at all. Anyhow, spent the night in a hotel with my family for 7 hours to get up and fly to a different airport 100 miles away from where we need to be. Please just be aware at the end of the night. Non-revving is hard enough as is. We don't need our own employees holding us back. It became obvious to me that we definitely do not have the "Southwest culture."
Just left a European city this am, acs had a payload opt flight that was BS and we (crew) were not aware of any weight issues. ACS wanted the plane closed, CA refused the leave the gate and after 20 mins of a standoff that was very professional but firm, we got 5 very relieved and happy non revs on the flight and even did a reduced TO from a shorter runway.
Ended well and we took care of each other! All crews should ask questions early enough to stop this stuff. Benefits? Only if we take the time to be sure it all passes the smell test!

You guys are like a bunch of old women on the CDO thing. I realize it's part of a anti ALPA rhetoric to keep bringing them up but here is the simple truth. The company can take them or leave them. They are not pushing for them. CDO's originated with the pilot group. If the contract survey shows they are not wanted that will be the end of the story. Find something new to whine about. If you're concerned about them then get your survey filled out.

They have been promising great things from trainer since it was purchased. Virtually every quarter after reporting the loses they state next quarter will be better. They reported a 43 million dollar loss in the second quarter. We have between a 14 c per gallon to 6 cents per gallon advantage on fuel costs in the last reports depending on which airline. What I read stated it was due to hedges not trainer. Regardless trainer has a long way to go to eat up the startup costs.
Edit, the 43 million loss was first quarter, they reported a profit so 13 million second quarter. Here is Anderson's recent statement on fuel cost at Delta. Note the term market in his quote.
"The refinery has made an impact on market fuel prices and we have a solid hedge book in place that should reduce our fuel expense by more than $350mn for the year, including $100mn in the September quarter," chief executive Richard Anderson said during a conference call with analysts.

I have a couple questions maybe you can answer. Does Monroe Energy (a subsidiary of Delta) charge Delta Air Lines the "crack spread" to refine a barrel of oil in to aviation fuel? Because Delta owns Monroe, does Delta pay a federal sales tax on the fuel it gets from Monroe? (I've heard no because it's all in one company and you don't have to charge yourself sales tax.)
I'd like to know how these two numbers are accounted for in the overall Delta Air Lines balance sheet before I'd consider Trainer to be a money loser.

So far I've heard of NOBODY that wants them so to say they originated with the pilot group is hard for me to believe. Now that we've been talking about them I know there are a few guys that wouldn't mind them, but before the 117 thing I'll bet there were less than a dozen guys out of 12,000 that asked the reps to bring us CDO's.
After C2012 I have no faith that what we put in the survey will actually steer the NC. If 95% of us say no in the survey they will still show up in a TA.
