Was pushed into an X day this month . All I got out of it was my next reserve day start time pushed 9 hours from release time.
Had it been an golden day would I not have received the credit for the day I worked on top of guarantee?

Assuming you're talking about a rolling delay and not a reroute, there would have been no additional pay due either way.

Mostly true but the nice part about going into a golden day is they can't make you sit SC past noon on your last on call day.

We need a lot of things fixed. This is not one of them. I used to not even bid golden days when I was on reserve. That's how little they meant to me. Don't swap golden days if you care that much. I think you'll find most of us don't care about this. Now reserves not getting paid the same as lineholders was something that needed fixed for decades. It is finally happening next month. See the difference between an issue that needs fixed and one that doesn't really matter?

That reminds me of a hosing I took many years ago, I'll tell you the story just so you can watch out for a similar screwing.

I was a bottom line holding 727 F/O at the time. I had two new babies in the house (twins) born the prior January, and lots of people coming for the twins "First Christmas" as these were the first Grand Babies for both sides. (mother in law flew up from FL, etc.)

Since I was a bottom line holder, I knew I couldn't hold a line with Christmas off, so to be sure I got it off, I bid a reserve line with last on call day being the 23rd. and 4 X days over Christmas.

Well you can guess what happened next...

Sure enough, 5pm on 23rd they call me for a 4 day trip!!

I was livid and let the crew scheduler know it. I asked him if I was at least going to get some kind of double pay or something...he said, "Nope, but we Will give you your X days back when you get in!"

So I got no extra money as I was on the old 70hr. reserve guarantee of course, and I got to work a four day over Christmas.

I was super pizzed, but flew the trip and missed my babies first Christmas, the family reunion, the whole shebang. Got home late on 26th.

I made some calls to crew scheds afterwards and did some research to find out who the TOOL was, who called in sick on that trip. Turns out it was a guy Junior to me, who picked up the trip on a partial month move up, which put his line at 85 hours...and HE GOT CHRISTMAS OFF!!

Lesson learned, the hard way. I made sure it never happened to me again.

Just be sure you get that doctor's note in advance because he won't be open on Christmas.

Very similar story, different airline. Bid 3X continuous duty overnights since our contract said "no more flying" would be assigned after 3X CDOs. While consuming a glass of bubbly at our Christmas Eve engagement party my bride to be answered the phone. In her defense CS was issued CALLING CARDS so they could dial through the 800 number and disguise their company number.

As soon as they got the "K" out of Captain I said, I'm drunk and not fit for flight, to which they responded, "fine we will drop the first round trip and junior assign ... or you can expect a call from your Chief Pilot." I say, "have the Chief Pilot call me, and oh, when did you move Crew Scheduling to Denver Colorado?" At which point they hung up rather than have a recorded call discussing how they were coming in on a 720 area code.

I guessed correctly the Chief Pilot on Duty Christmas Eve was junior to me. I ensured he got the trip he had coming to him

Oh ... and in addition to the Quantas 787's, Air Berlin just put 15 more orders up for grabs.

IMHO, even with Boeing's truly terrible project management and labor relations buffoonery, the 787 is a superior product for our needs compared to the slightly wrong size A330. If Boeing prices them (ahem) competitively I hope we stay with their product. JMHO

I also think we "should" be allowed to keep them. Meaning that is should not be automatic that we lose or keep them - but dependent on coverage.

If you hit hit 17500 and 34500, the company continues to pay you the 15%. It comes to your paycheck under the header "DPSP_CASH"

When you hit 52K, correct, no more 401a money.... however many pilots (most F/O's for example) can continue to contribute because the limitation is the 17500 for them, not the 52000 ceiling..... however those contributions are not automatic and must be designated. Pretax contributions shut off automatically.

So how do we mechanize that for those of us who maxed out the 17.5, but have room within the 52k limit for this PS check? I want ALL PS money going to fill up that 52k limit.
Thanks

In other news... FlightGlobal got more specific on our future wide body order. They said Richard said,

"We’re in the process of either choosing a 787-9 or an A350-900,” he said during a speech at Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport Foundation on 24 September, based on a recording provided by Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Kristen Leigh Painter. “The important thing about that is that fleet is going to unlock the longer haul markets.”

Sooo... another Dot is that Air Berlin had switched their 787-8 order to 787-9. Also, remember Emirates cancelled their order for I think 70 A350s, which opens up some slots in that airplane's order book.
