Had to wait for the morning for the part to come from ATL, so they used a third crew to fly the flight.

I see how a micro-base on >paper< will save them $$$, but in reality it won't work.
The whole micro base concept is bollocks unless we are getting more airframes. That's the only possible answer if it happens, and if they pull that trigger, then it's after the RFP becomes a firm order.

Just did the survey. Very disappointed in how so many questions were essentially asking us what type of concessions we wanted (profit sharing, specifically.) Also, with so few characters available for expressing my specific ideas, I'm not optimistic that the negotiators will get a good grasp of the opinions of the pilot group. Poorly done.

No character limit on email. Send them a concise email detailing your specific concerns. CC your reps.

Boil it down for them, rather than sending long winded manifestos. There are only 3 of them and 12,000 of is, which is why I suspect they only gave us 250 characters/text box. If we each got write a novel they'd still be reading them in April 2015 instead of being ready to present the opener.

The squeaky wheel can get some grease. I was pleased to see several questions that were added as a result of the contract survey webinars. Believe it or not the NC is seeking your input - give it to them! If you don't think you were able to get your point across via the survey keep pushing until you do.

I agree, LL. I can't imagine why you'd need more than 250 characters unless you're a wordsmith that likes to see how many words they can type.

Make it concise and to the point. Granted, those that produce massive walls of words that could have been boiled down to a few to the point sentences have always gotten on my nerves (I consider it disrespectful), so there is some bias...

I am not a wordsmith nor do I consider myself to be disrespectful. Just thought the survey, and its character limit, was fairly narrow. I will e-mail my reps, but considering where we are with our company producing record profits, I found the survey underwhelming.

I apologize as my post definitely was harsh and not directly intended for you. Thank you for your desire to go above and beyond on your input to help improve our contract!

No problem whatsoever! Always open to good ideas and constructive criticism. Hope a fun weekend is in store for you and all our Delta brethren.

I just finished mine today as well and also had a little trouble making sure I was saying what I meant to say. I was very specific about what I want to see though and wasn't shy about using the "strongly oppose" button. The challenge for the NC comes when another pilot "strongly agrees" on the same question. How do you please a majority of the pilots most of the time? That's what they have to figure out.

FWIW, I was able to find the "don't touch profit sharing" radio button pretty easily. For me the hardest questions were about SLI's and International flying, neither of which I have any experience with.

The company does not plan to start and end the trips with a DH. That's the whole point of a micro base. Eliminate the DH and reduce block hours and head count.
