If a pilot is seat locked, can he or she be awarded a newly established category and equipment? For example, a 330B has a year left on the 2 year lock, can he or she be awarded MSP 777B on the opening bid? Does the same apply to a B that gets an A award in a newly established category? I know in the case of an upgrade, they take the lock and apply the remaining time to the captain position, but does that apply in the case of a newly established category? For example, would our 330B to a 777A incur a 3 year lock or only 2? I thought this was addressed in Filling of Vacancies but I can't find any reference to brand new categories or bases...
Has any of the 16 744s gone to the boneyard yet and had their wings chopped off?

I'm no expert, but I would be willing to bet your right arm that the answers are "yes", and "yes".

a. that is determined under Section 22 G.,
b. that commences on the date of a pilot’s award of an AE or VD for which qualification training is required or on an entry level pilot’s date of employment with the Company 22 as a pilot, and
c. during which the pilot will (unless declared eligible by the Company) be ineligible to be awarded another AE with an earliest conversion date falling within the freeze period (other than to a new or reestablished category) for which qualification training is required.
23.a.7. “Category freeze” means a period of time

It goes away. You simply incur a two-year freeze in that new position.
