You haven't scratched the surface.
I ran a business for a long time as a backup to Delta. I will however quote a business class professor on the subject. "Give me a 5% cost advantage over a competitor and I will crush them every time".
SWA should serve as a excellent example of this. When they held a significant cost advantage they could go into virtually any market in the US at will and run everyone else out. They lost that advantage in the mid 2000's and have ceased to grow since despite the fact that year over year growth was a cornerstone of their business plan.
We sell a commodity or consumable depending on how you view it. Both always trade in a narrow price range.
That's quite different then most products where you take it home and own it. I purchased a IMAC for my wife because I was fed up with the performance of windows products. I paid almost double what a windows system would have cost. I used to purchase tickets in conjunction with the business. I did like 99 percent of travelers and took the lowest cost ticket since the product is about the same and once the flight is over I don't get to keep the seat!

So run for LEC rep in the next election and help that majority become a minority.

My reps don't feel that way. But they are the minority.

That's democracy.

Indeed. Well, hopefully they will succeed in changing the minds of at least some of the majority.

Putting you on the ignore list doesn't solve anything. Why not just treat people with respect? I'm singling you out only because yours is the most recent example. Even I'm responsible for the same horrible behavior. Let other people act like fools. Don't respond in kind.

Purple Drank had issues getting his point across. He has toned down his rhetoric and others are starting to listen. I don't skip his posts anymore. Thanks PD!! Carl has his moments. When he's on a rant I know I can skip a whole page. The next day, after a nice sleep, his posts seem knowledgable and readable. We all seem to have our own distinct personalities on this site. (-:

I can almost hear your blood boil when you've read some of Alphas posts. If I stand on my roof I can see the smoke rising from your house. Lol. Beware, the zombies near you are attracted to that kind of stuff!!! The alphas and sailings of the world need to figure out a way to reach the Carls and 88's without dismissing them. Respect definitely goes both ways. It's also earned.

Keep up the fight. I'd like a big raise!

Sorry. I'm just calling it the way I see it. If you don't like it, then you could always put me on your ignore list or go read the BBQ Blog on the DALPA site.

I supposed it's possible I misunderstood what you were saying. Here it is. I'll explain how I took it and then you can explain how I misunderstood...

The answer I get from my reps is a resounding yes.

I don't agree for a minute that that's what happened last time.

flyallnite is asking if we are at least planning to ask for something more significant in C2015 than what we asked for in C2012. You answer that your reps have indicated a "resounding yes."

Then flyallnite asks if if DALPA is just going to "phone this one in too" like they did with C2012. You answer that you don't agree for a minute that that's what happened in C2012.

So... I don't see how you can have it both ways, Alan. You indicate that you and your reps expect a significantly better performance with C2015, but then you indicate you think they did just fine with C2012, which implies no improvement needed.

Sorry if it comes across that way. I definitely don't lose any sleep over anything Alfa says. It's like water off a ducks back. He has no credibility as far as I'm concerned. I just like to point out where he has it wrong so that others won't be mislead.

And if you've read many of my posts over the years, you know I try to stay above board. As you point out, none of us are perfect. But I try hard to keep it respectful the vast majority of the time. Unfortunately, sometimes the line gets crossed and I respond in kind. I think sometimes that is about the only way to handle it. I don't believe you'll find many examples (maybe none?) where I've initiated that. Alfa crossed that line a long time ago. I have a very low threshold of tolerance for him. Sorry.

There are a lot of limitations with your ignore suggestion, 88 Driver, but it may be worth a shot.

Some posters have a template through which they try to force every current topic. There are two things or three things they say, over and over again. They view any and all conversation as an excuse to broadcast those things. Having exchanges with them is futile, because nothing you could possibly say will make them change their mind: their ONLY purpose here is to see their view prevail.

When they're hijacking a thread as completely as you and a few handful of others, then possibly the ignore function MIGHT work. It's not as good as, say, having you refrain from continuously preaching to the "idiots" that disagree with you, but since this is where you and some of the others have taken the L&G... why not try?
