This could have a large impact on the medical profession. Would also make getting the doctors note a bit easier as well.

I put in a request to move some X days on PCS. What does "1: Capped Reserve Day(s)" mean?

Is that a polite way of saying "denied"?

[QUOTE=XtremeF150;1701421]In regards to the 747 replacement aircraft, we all know RA loves used airplanes. There seem to be a lot of carriers looking to part with used 777 aircraft right now to buy newer technology. I'm wondering if we are going to grab some of these because they would be available much sooner than a new aircraft. Just have to see who is taking delivery of new equipment right now and what they are parking.

Or we might be picking up some used 330's from some island in the pacific...well pilots come in that deal I guess so not really a gain.[/QUOTE

Recently RA said he would not buy a used WB. But he also said that the 74s were not going anywhere soon

Yes. Look at "reserve coverage " under the open time menu. Compare required vs available. The numbers DO change on occasion, and what was denied today may be approved tomorrow.

That's exactly what it means. Move 1 day at a time per request for your best chance of moving days. It will probably take more than one pcs run. As a general rule of thumb, you can only move your day off to a day with better coverage than the one you are giving up. If you move multiple days, the worst covered day you want off has to be better covered than the best covered day you are willing to work. This makes multiple move days hard to do in one shot unless all days have positive coverage. I 'm not sure it's supposed to work like that, but in my experience it does.

Also remember that coverages change during pcs runs so everything is a crap shoot. I have seen sure things denied and hail Mary's go through. The monthly reserve coverage is more of a guideline.

It means there are not enough rsvs with regard to required+open time in the pot.

After you put your swap in, go and check the reserves required in the open time section of icrew. If your swap is on a "blue (greater than required)" day, it'll go through unless someone senior wanted that day off too and it was on the limit. If it's black (at or below what is needed), throw in for it- people pick up open time and swap all the time. Don't delete it, you may be pleasantly surpised.

Swaps and such are computer based- it should never be on someone's whim.

Pilot reserve levels are color coded for every day. Black is capped, blue is not. You can only move off days to the blue days.

This is true if the X-day you're giving up is short of reserves. However, if it is fat, then it does not matter what the coverage is on the day you're moving the X-day to.

Not quite, and it depends on whether you're moving your X-days to a holiday period. If not, then the system adds up the shortages (if any) on the days you're moving the X-days to and compares that to the total shortage (if any) on the days where the X-days are currently. If the total shortage where the X-days are now is greater than where you're moving them to, the swap goes through.

If you're moving your X-days to a holiday period, then the system compares the shortest day you're moving your X-days to with the shortest day that they're on now, and so on.

Weren't he and Matt Coons the Comm Committee that Dave Stevens let go prior to the merger? After the merger, he was C20 FO rep and he was Kingsley Roberts' Comm Committee Chairman until being moved up to EA.
