I agree this AE was a tempest in a teapot. More big metal retiring - for the most part continued stagnation. What a disappointment.
I really hope ALPA is aggressive on the JV screw-job.
OBTW - Whoever agreed to a three year measurement window with a one year ignore (I mean cure) period should be voted out of office.

I wouldn't put anything past em, but it looks like they "might" have to send some new hires to the ER again. From my math:
ATL - 36
DTW - 25
LAX 0
MSP - 25
NYC -32
SEA 0
SLC 0
They said that they weren't going to backfill up to a combined 30 spots in DTW & MSP, but it looks like they got -50 there.
So, we look to be down 88 spots system wide after that if that's all the bodies they wanted off the fleet. Just depends on how tight they want to run it I guess.

"Together with our partners we are currently making adjustments to our joint capacity plans...
As we approach the winter months, those adjustments will become more visible in public schedule.
So of course there is always some tension as to which entity will do the flying and what the economic prospects are for the trans-Atlantic versus other opportunities elsewhere in the world.
The other thing I would add to that is these are highly integrated, we don't have all of the -- all our employees are basically AFKL employees in Europe and we run their operation here... it really is single run. You got to think of it as running as a single airline. Even though there are a different colored, different painted to the airplanes in the JV.
We have flexibility in the business and we'll make additional changes to our joint capacity levels if necessary to continue on the path to achieving our financial goals."
Richard Anderson:
"We have an incredible track record working with our colleagues at ALPA. And if you just look at the track record over the last 10 years, it’s been just phenomenal. And we expect it to continue to be that way. So if you look at what we’ve been doing in the business we’ve really taken the labor risk totally off the table at Delta."
Scope language and enforcement FAIL.

It's tough to tell if they added 777 FOs, but if they did without adding captains, it means more 3 man stuff...not so good. Parking 744s early lends credence to the 10 used 777-300s rumor. One can hope.
I guess bainite counted, but idk if he counted the guys that bid off.

Gotta wonder about the ER ending service, JFK to Liberia come end of August too.
You JFK 767 guys got your Ebola virus shots yet?
Oh wait, there IS NO SHOT!
At least ebola is about 90% fatal. I'm guessing those trips go pretty junior?

Where's PD, he needs to weigh in on this AE.
It's actually less than 90% depending on who you believe. WHO says 90%, but then they say this too:There have been roughly 1850 recorded cases with over 1200 deaths since ebolavirus was discovered, an average fatality rate of 65%
More like, 60% of the time, it'll kill you every time.

Junior Capt. award I saw was #9357, MD88, NYC.
Any idea what date of hire that would be?
