At the base meeting last week we were told that we are going to ship sets with the first being the A330 by the end of the year.

it's back
Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Japan Airlines Corp., seeking its fourth state bailout since 2001, resumed talks with Delta Air Lines Inc. and AMR Corp.’s American Airlines over a possible capital alliance, three people familiar with the matter said.
Executives from the two U.S. carriers visited Tokyo in the last two weeks and may return this month, said the people, who declined to be identified because the talks aren’t public. The carrier will also release a revised restructuring plan, drawn up with a state-appointed panel, by month’s end, said a person familiar with the situation.

(marketwatch.com, 13OCT2009) Overseas, Japan Airlines is asking creditors to forgive about $2.8 billion in debt as part of its turnaround plan, Reuters reported. The Tokyo-based carrier owes $15 billion, which is weighing down its ability to raise capital.
It's also planning to cut more than 9,000 workers from its payroll, up from its prior goal of 6,800, the news agency said. It will also dump its MD-90 planes and replace its Boeing Co. 747s with more fuel-efficient jets.
There are 16 MD-90-30s at JAL

Boeing reiterates 787 first flight target
By Stephen Trimble
Boeing says the side-of-body modification for the 787 is "progressing well" and first flight by the end of this year remains on track.
"Installations of the fittings are proceeding well and we are pleased with the progress we are making on this important effort," says Scott Fancher, Boeing's vice president and general manager for the 787 programme.

Machinists exec: We'll negotiate for second Boeing 787 line
While Washington's (state) political and business leaders are falling over themselves to make the case that Boeing should put its second 787 Dreamliner assembly line in the state, the one non-Boeing party perhaps most able to make that happen is playing it cooler.
"We want the second line here in the state of Washington and we're willing to negotiate to make that happen," Larry Brown, legislative and political action director of International Association of Machinists union District 751, said in Everett Thursday.

The ACARS is critical to safety of flight and its a touch screen. If I don't have an ACARS I'll probably not bother to get my clearance and thats not safe. So there FAA, safety of flight in a touchscreen.
Did you know that NASA 757 had cocaine packed in the tail when NASA bought it? I did some flying at the Langley AFB club when they first got that thing and evidently while doing maintenance on it they found cocaine packed in the vertical stab. What I was told was that there was some sort of drug operation going with Eastern maintenance where the cocaine was packed in it somewhere in Latin America and then it'd fly around until it went in for maintenance at the right place and the cocaine was pulled out.
Everyone was telling that story so I believe it was real.

Technically it is not a touch screen. It has a X and Y axis IR sensor. If you look on the left and bottom above the screen you will see that dark red plastic. It is IR, not touch.
Sorry, just had to be a dork. Try keeping your finger just above the screen, it works.
lets hope that the hippies a Jepp. that put the revisions together can do a better job on the ship sets. I would say about 60-70% of the time I am missing a page or two.

At my last gig, we changed to LIDO ship sets, prior to EFB. LIDO is a sub of Lufthansa, and they produce a color product that is superior to Jepp, imho.
Updated by vendors every two weeks, huge cost saving over paper to all crewmembers, far fewer OJT back injuries for crewmembers.
On-line viewer to review/ print charts at home if you desired.
If D is considering shipsets, it would be smart to at least take a look at the LIDO product......not getting a cut!
