Not all fNWA guys like them. Most that live in base do not like them at all and wish they would go away. The company likes them because they can get less credit time in rotations even with 30 hour sits.

I thought the same thing, once they started closing all the fun, smaller bases in 1996, so I bid to ATL and resigned myself to commute the rest of my career.

Now they are moving equipment all over the place, you just can't tell where your next seat may end up. The ATL 777 category is slowly migrating to DTW as more ATL Capt.s retire, replaced by bids to DTW 777.

Richard has said the NRT hub is moving to SEA. The guys living in the PNW must be very happy right about now, but they had to wait a long time for it.

One thing is for sure though, as soon as you think you've got it figured out...they'll change it. Their 5 year plan changes every 3 weeks.

Who would possibly come on this forum and crow about the great schedule they have?!?

First of all, this isn't really a place for people that are happy with their jobs. Mostly, though, bragging about a good schedule around people who don't have the same fortune is just rude. I'm glad guys aren't doing it.

TIC?

It's not uncommon for guys to say good things about their schedule on APC, when they're good. We do have some crying nancies on here, but it seems like guys are simply relating the facts about their schedules.

One new issue is the confluence of new FAR 117 domestic rules + summer ALV's + 30 day months. My takeaway is that I need to look more closely at time between trips, because PBS can build some rather long strings of trips. When you have 90+ hour months, it becomes tricky to get the days off you're shooting for, reasonable time off between trips to recover, and not trigger 100-in-28 days restrictions.

This is all a learning process, guys are getting different results from their bids than did last summer, and they're talking about it. That's all.

While I was shocked to see what a 90 hour line looks like (especially during a shortened month), I'm resigned to the fact that the summer is when we make our money.

With the 100 in 28 restriction, it'll be interesting to see who will be able to fly the green slips that the company relies upon.

If I could hold them, I'd do two 5 days and a 4 day every month. Great for commuters if you wish to minimize commutes

I thought Wall Street guys loved mergers...

Maybe Cramer called us out because he was trying to fly to see grandma on a $199 ticket!

I was talking to a few other pilots about this very subject last trip. We came to the conclusion that with the high block time trips we have in most International categories, the only green slips you can get now are "With Conflict", where you'll drop a high block time conflicting trip, to pick up another similar trip, so you won't hit the 100 hrs. in 28 days. Or, bid trips that have a lot of DH's,with lower block times.

Or, as one guy said, "Call in sick for your highest time trip, then you can GS anything you want."

I think a whole bunch of other guys have figured that out, thus the company wants to crack down on sick calls, which I think will only increase as summer goes on.
