Here is a question for everyone. Over the last couple of contract negotiations/modifications, what group/groups of pilots have benefited the most? (Regular/Reserve, Junior/Senior etc.) Not trying to start a food fight, just wondering what everyone thinks.

We are due another huge correction and the rest of the world has issues as well. As for the 1500 hour "rule" that can and will be changed if it ever actually leads to a crisis. Better to lock some of that in now while we have the chance. C2015 needs to be a solid win in many areas, not just scope. But IMO we can't afford to pretend this issue is magically fixing itself. The DC-9-10 is our single biggest fleet type and its being outsourced off our list. That needs to be addressed and fixed.
Exactly. Waivers and favors will be the name of the game for the 1500hr rule within the next ten years. It won't last. Even though the actual crisis is the wages, it will be sold by the ATA as otherwise. There will be another shot in the arm for underpaid regional pilots. Bet on it.

Waiting for temporary economic and legislative factors to permanently change the amount of outsourcing our company does is far more shortsighted than changing section one during more favorable negotiating periods.

Now, outsourcing off the top is a whole nother animal.

The big winners in my mind are the mercenary flight Wh0re$ in categories that are short staffed. Regular/Reserve, Junior/Senior makes no difference.

Guys who will routinely and consistently fly on their off days are making a killing.

OBTW - I do not begrudge these guys either. As a matter of fact I try to do it myself a few times a year when the planets align and my schedule permits.

I think reserve has gotten mo' better. I think the union and the company are trying to balance making it good enough so that senior people in the category will bid it.

Denny,

One way to answer this without a "food fight" was to ask; where was our contract most deficient compared with airlines in our peer group? That's your answer and will continue to be the answer in when pattern bargaining is a factor.

The good news is that others have used our agreement as a model. We should be able to pattern upwards now instead of having to explain why ye' junior Bucking Bar makes more than a US Air bus Capt.

But seriously, I also think the reserve portion has improved the most. Just the fact that many senior guys now bid reserve and at times the plug in my category gets a line will attest to this. Think about it, a few years ago reserve only paid a 70 hour guarantee. Going further back every reserve Pilot had a SC window twice a day (DAL South).

Another group that may benefit quite a bit are the junior line-holders. Guys who ended up with the crap 3 day 10:30 hour trips that have since improved to 3 day 13:30 hour trips and that will pay 15:45 come November.

I also think this supports Bar's point - That the portions of our contract that were most deficient, Reserve, and Trip Rigs/guarantees (in my opinion) are the portions that improved the most.

The one area that can still use some improvement is vacation.

I'll answer my own question.

I think the past few negotiations have improved the QOL, pay, etc of the bottom third of each category. (Notice I did NOT say the bottom half of the seniority list.)
I think by doing so, they have improved the lot of the other two thirds by giving them more choices, as in bidding reserve if they want. For the past at least the past 5 months, anyone in my category who wanted to hold a regular line could.

So my answer would be everyone! I know, a copout!
