Several hundred out of 10,000+? I'd take that ROI. The junior guys would make far more money over the course of career when/if that stagnation returns....

Exactly. I say we only entertain the thought under a couple conditions:

1. All equipment will pay 2004 777 rates, adjusted for inflation.

2. All those with lost/frozen DB plans will be made whole, into their DC plans.

3. All medical plans will have zero deductibles and be 100% company paid, for life.

I'm sure you guys can come up with a few more...

If you want to press a massive pause button again right as movement is starting again, then by all means support it. Go take a look at the UPS guys and see how their "progression" goes with LBP.

Like Timbo said, it all depends on the pay rates involved and other QOL protections.

And with that being said.... notgonnahappen. I do see us trending more toward banding and would not be surprised to see some more of that in C2015.

This is gonna be the elephant in the room in C15. Yesterday's paper had an article about how "the unions" are now upset at what they see coming down the pike with the ACA. Costs are gonna go up, and somebody's gonna have to pay for it. The current occupant of 1600 Pa Ave farted, and nobody is gonna smell it until he's out of office for 2 years...

Which is precisely why I don't want to talk about it anymore. I have zero willpower though. Speaking of that, was there really a driver in the Indy 500 named Will Power? I'll bet his callsign was Max.

With respect, WHY would we want to do the company's "heavy lifting" for them? Think, Man. What you're suggesting does the company a huge favor by solving the training costs issue that is coming, and very soon. I like your idea on the surface of it, but we should use it as negotiating leverage to get more of what we want. Money. Time off.
