Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I don't believe we are going to furlough either... the stars haven't quite aligned yet.
Maybe I'll get a teamsters card if I flow back to Compass.

Patently false! The committee chairs are generally the technical experts that the LEC reps talk to when they have issues within that committee chair's area of responsibility.
See what happens when communications are so poor, Mr. Communications? The indians tend to make up their own stories...
Also, I hear the fear. if they furloughed the 400 most junior guys the cost savings would be about 32 million a year. (Give or take) That is not even half of the pay bump that we will get on Jan 1. It would serve the company better to come up with a better program. Just calm down a little bit.
Fine ACL, I'll send them home.
Here's a point I'd like to see made to the company IF they choose to furlough.
Other airlines have managed to squeak out a profit during these hard times, yet, they've not furloughed. Even with all of our "synergies", why is it that DAL needs to furlough?
Personally, I'm at the tail end of the a very long list of DAL pilots. Do I want to see a furlough, no. Am I prepared for a furlough, somewhat. Do I think we are going to furlough, you can count on it.
There is no way we can lose another 5-8% of our flying when they mesh the schedules (results of efficiencies in SOC) and expect DAL to carry us along.
The ONLY way I see us not furloughing after SOC is if the economy comes roaring back. And it is't. In fact, it is getting worse. Just read last Thursday in USA Today that the number of banks in August who defaulted on TARP paybacks DOUBLED over the previous month. And the government is warning that some of those banks (AIG was one of them) may go into bankruptcy. If that happens, the government doesn't get paid back. The problem is, the banks are still dealing with increases in forclosures and other troubled assets.
I know, right now I'm being a doomsayer, but, is there anyone out there in their own day to day life and among their circle of friends that can say that things are getting better?
I can't. Just last night, not exaggerating, one friend was laid off, the other is losing his house and has no where to send his family. The week before that, another friend lost her job. She is pregnant and has another newborn. Her husband still hasn't found a job.
I'm sorry for this thread.

Don't send them home, lets just convert the anger in to quantifiable action.

You are correct to be concerned. If things do not start moving and soon, it will get real ugly.
I still know people getting laid off. My wife's company is going to cut another 25% of their workforce.
Small snapshot
Regarding furloughs: I just spent 6 days on reserve, had 3 short calls, flew all 6 days, released at 2312 local time on day 6. Every seat filled, every leg.
If furloughs are going to happen, I think there will have to be substantial MD to the 88B seat first......am I way off base ??

I agree, we are full. They upgraded a 7ER to a 777 this week from ATL to JFK. I was upgraded from a 75E to a 7ER on a trans con. Every seat is filled and I may break guarantee this month. That is strange for reserve in the fall. I think it is great.
We are pulling a jet out of the desert tomorrow, so I am not yet sold on 10% of this list getting the axe next fall. We may cut some, but I cannot see the 10% that the rumors are calling for. I may be wrong, and if I am there is not one bloody thing you can do about it. Managers will manage and we as pilots will respond.
We need to work on what we can control. I do not see a pay cut to save jobs. Simply put you take any more and it gets real ugly. I think they know that.
