According to the LOA, this is a new change that affects all reserves. So much for protecting the reserve QOL.

Two hour commute window now only applies to the first day after a non-fly day. See page 24 of the LOA.

We have an average daily guarantee, so on average they must equal XX.

Lets say X=5 ... with two trips which fly 8 / o / 8

Min would be 8/5/8=21
Avg would be 8/0/8=16, 16 > 15 so no credit.

Many airlines that have min days have prorated deals where a part day = part pay.

On a min day, each day has to be brought up to at least the min value, with credit if needed.
On an average daily guarantee, the entire trip has to be equal to the ADG * the number of days on the trip (minus carveouts).

Let's say MIN and ADG are both 5:15.
Let's the trip is blocked 2:15/6:15/4:15, or 12:45 total
With an ADG, you get 5:15 * 3 = 15:45 (because it's > 12:45)
With a MIN, you would get 5:15/6:15/5:15, or 16:45

Of course, keep in mind I have no idea *** I'm talking about, but I think that's how they work.
That makes sense, thanks.

Maybe we want to push for a minimum day then? One of those "work rule raises" that Wall Street or the other employee groups wouldn't see.....

I don't care how we make the W-2 go up as long as it goes up.

Thanks guys

Used to happen a lot on the A320 when the ground crew started unloading the forward cargo bin right away.

NHTSB just predicted 380 deaths on our nations highways over the Memorial Day holiday. Can you imagine if a similar prediction was made for US air travel. Everyone have a safe holiday.

But hasn't the notice for short call been increased by the same two hours from 10 to 12? IOW, yesterday I got 10 hours notice for short call and could use the first two of those hours to commute. Now, I get 12 hours notice and use the same two hours (the ones from 10 to 12) to commute.

What's the difference?

Jinks,

I saw that but since we now have a minimum of 12 hours until we start short-call isn't that pretty much a wash? Before you could be notified to start SC in 10 hours and be expected to report at the 12 hour mark.

Now you can be notified that you are starting SC in 12 hours and can be expected to report at the 14 hour mark.

Is this how you guys are interpreting the new rules?

Assuming you're referring to the pre-merger NWA contract, the min day of 4:15 applied only to a turn. Otherwise, NWA had a 5:00 duty period average (vs. our current 5:15 duty period average).

I'm not aware of any airline, other than SWA, that has had a calendar day average such as the 5:15 we'll have by November.
