If you happen to be a senior FO at LAX, just imagine for a moment, all the extra $$$$ you can put in your backpack if you bid CAPT in DTW or ATL now!
There are 5 direct flights each day, including a red-eye to DTW and 10 flights to ATL, including 2 red-eyes.
All this and more, could be yours, the price IS right.
And while we are at it, senior CAPT's in L.A., just imagine yourself behind the wheel of a large airplane. The 747 and 777 are calling your name.

are your shoes shined every few hours? did your kids have a 4.2 gpa at a local Fayette County school while simutaneously being elected to Homecoming court and being recruited by UGA for football or cheerleading? do you have a golf cart? when you were at THE Academy did people often tell you that you were incredibly anal?
if your answer is no to any of these, bid DTW.

That's an interesting concept, but I wouldn't say its completely "without penalty" to the company, as they have to break up more trips and use a lot of DH credit…in many cases burning multipile reserves for the same "day" of a trip, as well as using given reserves for more days than the footprint they are covering due to front or back end DH only positioning, to simply "cover out of base". What you say still has merit, but I'd expect that to be "backed out" of any actual attempt to do what you are saying.

Here is the answer (from the Scheduling Committee Handbook) to the use of payback days to drop a regular line trip:
Q: Can I use payback days in a regular line month to drop a trip? How will I be paid?
A: Yes, by mutual agreement with Crew Scheduling. You may enter your request in PCS under “Leave Requests” by selecting “Payback Days.” Your pay will depend on the number of payback days available for use. If the number of days available are sufficient to cover the entire rotation, that number of days will be used and you will be paid for the entire rotation. If the number of days is not sufficient to cover the entire rotation, all available payback days will be placed on the days of the rotation, beginning with the first of such days, and you will be paid the value of those days only. You will forfeit any pay or guarantee for the remainder of the rotation. Note that credit resulting from application of duty rigs is always tied to the last duty period of the rotation.

Welp....once again I get burned on a reroute!! This place is unfrigin believable. I get screwed out of a long overnight in city I bid to hangout with both my sister their families and meet my new (2 weeks old) niece, but am now string elsewhere bc some FO ran into a 60-168 issue. So I get his trip and he gets mine.
Once again our RR and scheduling section need to be addressed ASAP.

On a more serious note: I don't think they can do that. They can't just swap you out with another guy because he hit the FAR limit. There must be more to the story. Either that or you are due some premium pay for an illegal re-route.

You will also need additional planning documents to do the job properly. The will is just the start. You will need a power of attorney and an advanced directive. Not only do you need documents to take care of things after you untimely demise, you need the appropriate documents to take care of things if you become ill or incapacitated.
Delta only pays for the will, which is great, but it shouldn't cost much to complete the remainder of the documents. If you are married, your wife needs them, too. If you have minor children, a trust will be needed.
If you are doing this for you parents, consult with NAELA.org, the National Association of Eldercare Attorneys. I used them to find an attorney for my parents out of state. I looked like a hero to my family when my mother passed and my incapacitated father needed care. It was worth every penny and more to have made the effort to find a specialist.
For myself, I did not take advantage of Delta's service. Rather, I used Hurley Elder Care Law in Atlanta. In and out in a jiffy. Everything was done to my satisfaction. I did have to pay for the will, but I got all of the other stuff done, too.
Delta only pays for the will, which is great, but it shouldn't cost much to complete the remainder of the documents. If you are married, your wife needs them, too. If you have minor children, a trust will be needed.

I now have everything I could think of complete for Estate Planning and it cost me ZERO thanks to this Delta benefit.
Now if someone else has a different experience then I count myself lucky or you taken advantage of. Those are the facts and I have the big Trust binder proving it. Bottom line, its worth investigating if you need this accomplished.
