It seems vaguely desperate. As I've said, promotions are not pay raises. It will hurt us in the long run to view it as such. RA is a helluva chess player. One can infer a lot from how he moves pieces around. Defensively, he's set up for a more hostile pilot force, with sick leave monitoring and the like. He's placated us enough to prevent a major uprising, and he has his costs well in hand, knowing that under the RLA he has unlimited time and power.
The bottom line for us? Mediocrity in a time of record profits. Profits which shatter all expectations of what an airline corporation can achieve. And we reap nothing close to what our predecessors did during lesser times. This is why 2012 was half baked. As the economy picks up steam, where will our profession lay on the compensation scale via a vis the more traditional ones? Just rhetorical questions...

I continue to view our current profit projections as rivaling those of the late 90's, rather than shattering them, but I agree that in such times we deserve no less than what we made back then. Let's hope that our reps can find the leverage to make that happen.
As to the issue of the banner -- to me, it says nothing about pay increases. It only addresses career progression. To the extent that it placates the troops, I would agree that it's a bad idea. To the extent that nearly half the troops at one point signed up to replace them, using (at least in part) the argument that C2012 continued the backwards progression, I can understand the motivation.
I believe that what we need at this point is 100% unity behind our reps. No more green bag tags. No more discussion of alternative representation. Simply a solid and unstoppable force behind our reps to enable them to achieve the maximum value possible.
I understand fully the disappointments of the past, and I have no way of knowing what the future will bring. But I do know this -- if RA does not believe that we are fully behind those who negotiate on our behalf, he will feel SIGNIFICANTLY less pressure to agree to terms that are more to our liking. In the end, those who decry ALPA and its perceived failings will be at least partially responsible for their own self-fulfilling prophecy.
So, there is a NYC ER FO on his 5th greenslip? Wow. Didn't the company just displace a bunch of NYC ER FO's so they could properly staff the MD88's?
I think so, because I remember last year, in Atlanta alone, there were days when 30 plus greenslips went out on the MD88, because they were short staffed.
But wait, hadn't they previously displaced a ton of MD88 FO's to staff the 717's?
Nevermind. Seems like there might be some robbing of Peter to pay Paul going on here. I hope they catch up.

All good questions and points, to which I have few answers, other than this:

We are on track to post a 4B pretax profit in 2014. I agree the past profits are analogous to the late 90's, but going forward looks to be a different story, wouldn't you agree?
She knows how to do rolling thunder. Well done young lady. She'll make huge $$ this month, and have a few days for her future vacations. (which can be turned into better guarantee) I'm thinking about downbidding.....
New guy question.
2 AE's prior to the one that is out I was awarded a base swap.
Once the results for projected training came out it showed JUN as the conversion month
I just looked at the JUN category and I am still in the old base.
Does that mean I am stuck in the old base until the end of the conversion window?
