Yes, very likely. And from all accounts, our performance is not too stellar anywhere, for anyone.
Has anyone started a "death pool" for regionals?.?.

The "latest & greatest" about DAL, is that DAL will retire a sh!tload of pilots over the next 10 - 15 years. If you are fortunate to be hired now, you WILL be a Captain before other Legacy carriers. You CAN fly a WB if you wish, prior to retirement.

DAL isn't going anywhere. They are paying down debt & have positioned themselves to lead the industry for the foreseeable future. They know how to make money. What other airlines are on the S&P 500? Exactly.

Adding seats to compete with the LCCs will only increase their profits. They will post a $400 mil profit, while UAL posts a $400 loss for the first quarter.

If you're a young & looking for a good future.....beg borrow or steal a way into DAL. You will have to wear a hat, however.

Southwest.
Plus FedEx and UPS if you count them as "airlines". Whatever they are, they employ pilots.

Second question. If you do a, lets say, 4 day GS worth 20 hours. 2 days are X days and 2 days then run into normal reserve days. Does this mean only the first 2 days applicable credit added to guarantee and 2 PD days? (or whole GS credit for the trip and 2 PD days)

Thanks
1. Yes and yes. And to clarify, you said it correctly. A RSV GS is pay NO CREDIT above guarantee. If the GS is flown on X days and you have no remaining RSV days for them to roll the PB days onto, the PB days go into your bank to be used later. It's a little off this topic, but banked PB days can be very useful if you play it right.

2. You would get the hard time of A & B day above guarantee, plus 2 PB days. The hard time from C & D day would offset RSV guarantee and any credit will ALSO offset RSV guarantee. All credit is paid on the last day of the trip, which in your example falls on a RSV day. I've had this happen where I flew low time days on my X days and then the GS ended on a RSV day. None of that credit goes above guarantee <---Be careful of this!

How do they know this and we haven't even started summer yet?

Considering the tooling for the 757 is long gone, it would probably be cheaper for a clean sheet at this point. I also didn't like the quote "we will continue to evaluate the best low-risk solution for new development programs and production system architecture". When Boeing made the 747 they risked the whole company on it, and it was not exactly low-risk solution.

It makes you wonder if Boeing guys ever flew the 757 to find out how nice of an airplane they had…
