When I was at CP I consistently advocating recapturing that flying whether I came with it or not, though a scenario where the Compass pilots were stapled would have been obviously preferred. My views haven't changed in that regard, and I will say that I think any scope recapture scenario today would likely *only* work with bringing the pilots over. The majors currently have their plates full hiring just for retirements. Bringing the pilots flying the feed onto the mainline list and contract, temporarily (or permanently) keeping the flying on a separate certificate, would ensure the feed is staffed, unify the regional & mainline pilots, and give the regional pilots an upward career path that would justify a staple.

Question for anyone, no hidden meanings here, just an honest question...how many of the additional 70 has the company actually ordered/taken delivery of? Of course I assume that they will eventually get all 70.

One of the better ones I've seen:

"Well folks, looks like our gate's occupied. We're currently working with our company to see if they'll let us park at gate #2, which as you can see, is currently unoccupied"

I might have had a FTB sighting yesterday in B concourse. I tied to throw the APC wave, but you had a phone glued to your ear and the hot blond behind you would have slapped the $hit out of me if she saw it!

Secondly, a few things have changed from a few years ago, both within DALPA and within the regional airline industry. I wasn't happy about the scope tradeoff in C2012 and argued vigorously at the time that it was throwing a lifeline to the DCI outsourcing scheme. The inability to staff DCI may be about to render that lifeline moot. Either DAL is going to have to greatly increase what they pay for feed to make sure the OJs (Outsourced Jets) get staffed, or pay basically the same thing to have mainline fly it and take control of their product. I think our union leaders should be nudging them in the latter direction.
Not happy about the scope tradeoff? C2012 was the first contract to move block hours from DCI to mainline, with mainline fleet expansion as the trigger event, and for a smaller fleet with fewer total seats at DCI.

C2012 moved jobs from DCI to mainline, and you just came onto the property this year, didn't you? Maybe there is a connection in there.

And don't be in a rush to solve management's problems. Let them come to us, with their checkbooks out and a box of new pens. We have a negotiated rate for those regional jets, after all. Let them talk uphill for a change; if qualified pilots become a rare commodity, I am sure that DAL will try to corner the market.

Growth at mainline is always good - at least you got that right.

I just had a little eye opener. I've been sitting RES for last 4 months voluntarily. With 117 rules it was a no brainer. I was getting short on the recency and decided fill out the trip buy over going to the sim. I put in for a specific trip and they said no but assigned a 4 day PHX all-nighter. Not a great trip but I have family in PHX and the food is good. I get my March pay statement and find they didn't pay anything for the trip buy and somehow I ended up with less than the Reserve Guarantee. In talking with a supervisor, he says yes there's a mistake. I should've been paid 3:45 total regardless of the number duty periods I flew on the trip buy. It's in the Contract: 11.B.3.... Ouch...bottom line...never do a trip buy the sim pays 3:45 too.
