Shows you how out of it I am on tech--I wasn't even aware you had a choice on what browser EB uses to integrate the bids to PBS. (or do you?)

There was a note on the site that Chrome might work better but I couldn't get either to send the bids the other night. Gonna try again when I get back stateside.

They basically stopped supporting IE8 about the exact same time the new update was made to Navtech because of Microsoft stopping their support of IE8. Its a bunch of little things that resulted in a big deal for our bidding purposes.
Sounds like some small company with no IT department rather than a S&P 500 with a "business relationship" with Microsoft.

IE9 has been available for 3 years, it's not like it just showed up.

Now if you're talking about EasyBid and their issues, then that's their problem. That's not what I'm frustrated with - it's DL and their antiquated IT. I mean, everytime I'm trying to change my DH seat on a DL computer I have to click through Script errors or something because the computer use such an old version of IE that Delta.bomb doesn't work well with it.

The very fact that we even have to pay for an outside vendor to audit and submit our bids, is ridiculous. There should be so much more functionality in what we can do and how we can do it. I'm talking phone apps. I pay for iCrew Max so that I can have a semi functional phone app that I can track my schedule and look at open time without having to resort to blindness and carpal tunnel inducing phone computing. This tablet we're getting... I know I keep slamming it, it's really not the hardware. It's the fact that I believe (based on years of frustrating experience) that this will be just the latest in a long, long line of tech missteps and disappointments. PeoplePC, Ecrew, having to enter passwords time after time, VPN tunnels, crew notification glitches, give me a break! It's not state secrets here, people! All the q & a on the tablet, it's all "not at this time", or, "planned for the roadmap". A company this size, this far-flung, deserves a world class IT department with a budget to get things done.

I totally forgot about PeoplePC. What a clown show that was.

It really is puzzling how Delta Air Lines can be so bad at technology.
You just know that some day there is going to be a major collapse.
When it happens it is going to cost so much revenue and "goodwill" among our customers that it will make the cost of upgrading all these antique systems pale in comparison.

Better question though: Since we're being told we should use Chrome for working with PBS, are the computers in the pilot lounges going to be loaded with the Google software?
is this the same flightline that gets your tax info in by the 15th of... May... if you ordered by December.

I like your thinking but in the next downturn, the company will take that all back and the reduction of manpower will be all that much more.

Why is an LEC rep making excuses for the company's inability to field a viable IT product?
Its called explained it, not making excuses. At this point, it "is" and we are stuck with the issue. Its like EasyBid are third party. Good news is apparently they have put out an update and it has proven successful at submitting bid for pilots.

As for Navetech, I am not sure if it was a server crash or just on IE8, due Microsofts decision to stop supporting it. I never had issues on Chrome, and the DeskTop app worked fine early last week.

It ain't excuses just because someone isn't throwing daggers.
