Just had the exact same thing happen to me! The agent said there was no way I could sit in the cockpit. I asked to speak with the captain. He didn't understand it either. I had to get him to look in the FOM, and verify that all it takes is a valid Delta ID, and "1P" on a boarding pass. He had to go up to the podium to convince the agent.

The agent was angry. The captain was angry. I was angry. All for different reasons. Delta IT is the weakest link.

Intl. = more 333's, WB RFP, threatening to kick Alitalia out of JV/Skyteam, fighting MEA's instead of retreating
I also agree. However, how did DCI, KLM/AF, and ALK ever become such a substantial part of Delta flying? Someone voted yes on those contracts, guys like TSquare. I bet that the current management team wishes the pilots over the past few years had said "NO" to a 700+ DCI Fleet, giving up a lucrative former Western west coast operation to Alaska and agreeing to all these international codeshares that bring little revenue to the table. I'm sure there is not a day that Anderson doesn't imagine where we would be now, with the current team, better international slots, gates at LAX and the lack of debt without the colossal failure DCI is and was.

It's ok to have an awesome culture and vote no. Southwest did just a few years back when management wanted a codeshare with Westjet. The pilots voted NO and plan B came about. They subsequently bought Air Tran and will grow their operation organically. Maybe the company ended up better off with the plan B than where the yes vote would have taken them.

Just saying.

And you can't figure out if it's a water cannon salute or they're trying to save everyone's life.

That's what I would think if I was sitting on "Indian Express" in a 787. :O

In-sourcing = improved customer service, greater control over functions and reduced total costs.

The other day the agent couldn't get me on my reserved jumpseat, but was able to put me on the FA jumpseat and the the captain let me sit in the cockpit.
