Whew! That really sucks for those it affected- all the World guys I encountered were really great.
Totally agree. Hopefully DAL will bring as many on board as possible.

I almost went to work there in management after my 2001 furlough. I knew the chief of ops from the USAF and a lot of the ops guys. Something didn't feel right, books happened, and I passed. A lot of really great guys there. Lots of whom were airlifter buddies of mine. I feel sorry for them. Great job supporting the troops over the years.

Maybe there will still be a wedding. Maybe the pre-engagement make-up sex will be both exhilarating from a management perspective, and absolutely sickening to the pilots that will be right in the center of the action, mostly on the receiving end.

It's a little soon to celebrate Delta's celibacy and personal development.
I dunno. I think the relevant question to ax is who needs who more? Maybe neither needs the other at all when all the dust settles... but then again, I would wager that ALK needs us far more than we need them. We will find out in the near future.

Totally agreed... was the guy BY that you speak of? I guess the pull down this time was what finally did them in. They've always had cycles of hiring and furloughing, but I guess this and the "investment" company that had bought them finally did them in.

As upset as I was at them missing me on that interview call (after which the DO called and profusely apologized and said I would be first up in the next round, which he did follow through with... super super nice guy), I figured another door may open up. Flying the MD-11 would have been fun, though. (someone go check up on Bucking Bar after the seizure he just entered reading that)

Looks like DTW 717 will do DTW-LGA-MIA/TPA and JFK-BOS

That was an amazing video of an event I was not aware of. It was sickening, but I don't feel comfortable judging people confronted with a situation I have thankfully never had to face. From the comfort of my easy chair, I can definitely say that I would never do that. After enduring decades of war and an approaching certain death and probable torture, I may not be as confident.

Also, I may be alone in this: the kids should have definitely been boarded first, but as society increasingly insists on gender equality, I'm starting to question why female lives are more important to save than male ones.

Alaska and Delta?s relationship unravels. Deciding when a partnership is over is a big call | CAPA - Centre for Aviation

I'm thinking the merger/consolidation "ship has sailed" with Alaska. Who knows though? Growing up I never thought a military veteran's "EARNED" retirement benefits would be threatened by an un-Constitutional, uber-liberal, continue to pay-the-unemployed, income-equality-minded Commander-in-Chief like we have today. Guess that showed me.

Unfortunately he is on the list at ASA and says all sorts of stupid s%!+ over on the ASA L&G thread too. We feel your pain.

It was an amazing group of pilots who were truly unified. They have been furloughing for the last few years. Many of their top tier had left over the last few years, and gone other places. Almost all of those whom I knew there very recently started working for NKS or VX and when that happened, I knew it was really getting bad. Some of them had been there 15+ years.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. I rocked the original iPhone for over 4 years. The first 2.5 it was flawless. For the next year it was slower but still worked great with only marginal battery drain. The last 6 months it still worked but basically unupdateable, but so what. Typing this on a 6 year old Mac, runs everything well. No hardware will last forever in an exponentially expanding world of software built for ever increasing hardware capabilities. But Apple does a stellar job with product longevity with consistent build quality that only a few of their competitors have even begun to attempt to emulate and an OS that's as universal and timeless across generational platforms as you can get.

Most of the other copy cat tablets and iClone phones are one off orphanware from the moment you peel the protective film off the screen.
