Wow, they were just training new CRM instructors a couple of months ago. It's always amazing on how airlines limp along right up until the eventual BK. It's like no one wants to believe until the checks actually bounce. Seems like a lot of ACMI carriers are feeling the effects of the wars winding down in both cargo and pax.
When I was hired at DAL there was a guy in my class who opted to go to World instead of Delta because (I guess) he lived in N.C. and didn't want to commute. I guess World flies you around?
I would love the view too!
Actually, a great pledge brother of mine back in the day was a male cheerleader.
He conveyed his experience to all of us. He told us that those hotties you see being picked up like that, stunk! Their underwear would be stained and they would let farts ripp throughout the game just to F with the male cheerleaders. One game, he had the privilege of lifting the hottest one. As he picked her up, he noticed she had skid marks.
Lessons: Be careful, what looks good might be Stinky and Sour.

It's like a Captain said of the beaches in Rio, it's like a beautiful woman with dirty underpants.
Sorry!
I still dig it though..

On the other hand it was some interesting flying into some strange places that no one else flew to, except that now Delta flies to these same strange places. And you never had to worry about commuting or crashpads.
The company had been around since 1947. And in the words of the veteran captains there, "Various management groups have been trying to snuff us out of existence ever since, but none have been able to because just when we're on the verge of extinction a war comes along." This time it was a hedge fund that was more interested in the carcass than the potential.
I even got to fly some of Delta's MD11's.
Good pilot group. I wish them all the best.

A friend of mine went to World right around the time I got hired at Delta (2000). When I got recalled from furlough in 2005, he was an MD11 Captain and check airman making 160-180K. He was furloughed right before Christmas and is in school at Spirit right now.
Just got around to listening to the crew room briefing. Left a couple of questions open:
(1) What if Alaska airlines had agreed to be an exclusive partner of Delta in Seattle?
(2) What if Alaska changes their mind?
Me thinks I might change a couple of my anticipated Contract 2015 survey answers. Might be a good idea to close that loophole while management isn't using it.

1) They would be getting all the benefits of that partnership with DAL. THe ALK corporation would benefit handsomely.
2) Too late.
