I usually do the same, and the picture that's left looping on the iPhone is worth a thousand words.
Of course, the guy in 4C on Gogo is getting about 3-4,000 words worth of current info.
So I just turn off the radar, and trust the Captain. New York Captains are very good looking, and the best .

I never do, but I heard from a friend that you can view radar in flight on your phone using gogo without ever signing in. Best wx radar available.
