Like anything else, it can be screwed up.

On the 737-900 there really is no place for the JS bags. They need to go down stairs (and I'll go down and get them for you if you don't have SIDA access). The -900 has a crew closet mid cabin which the FA's have claimed as "theirs" ... and there is no way for a JS to fight the crowd to get back there and return forward without screwing up boarding and frustrating everyone involved.
I just go down early and ask the a line if I can put my bag in the overhead bin. Never been told no.

If you have a layover in the new short layover hotel in LAX, please FCR it as it is way below standard. The Hotel Committee should not have approved it. So now it takes FCR's to undo the mess.

Yep. ALPA had it at the bottom of the list, so CA put it at the top of theirs. Your opinion seems to be the consensus and yep, your suggestion is the solution. Some are working on getting this changed. They need your help.

IMHO there is a trade off and Boeing is probably right. Notice the latest and greatest wing designs (787, A350) "winglets" are more just a raked extension. Of course the P-8 has hardpoints, so the comparison to the civillian version's structure could be an apples and oranges comparison. I don't know what Boeing does to specialize the P-8 wing ... .

Delta says that the winglets cost efficiency over flights <400 nm (more weight and drag) and that you have to really go somewhere, a couple hours or more, for the high altitude cruise efficiency to earn back the weight and drag penalty.
...also... those are -900 wings on an -800 fuselage. Sounds like it's optimized for range and endurance. That concludes my vast knowledge of the maritime patrol world. I think DL hired about all the former P-3 pilots from 1968-1990, they'd probably know.

Holiday Inn. The only place to eat requires you walk under the interstate, which is where a large settlement of hobos resides. The smell is horrendous. The neighborhood is bad. The rooms smell like cigarette smoke. No heat. Very noisy with the interstate right outside. If I have another layover there, I'm heading over to the crown plaza and expensing it to the company.

Tech question. My 5 year old has an Itouch and his cousins downloaded facetime and he's addicted. I don't have an iphone(android and debating getting an galaxy S4) Can facetime work on androids or is that only for apple products? Most everyone I know has apple and I've been holding out, but might have to make the switch. Another thing pushing me to apple is the schools around here use ipads. Thanks

Don't fall asleep on the 737 JS. Evidently, there is a 737 A writing guys up. He tells you to stick around, references the FOM and informs you he has to write you up.

Then you get a call from the CPO... it lasts 10 seconds.

I don't know, that Professor guy would sure be hard to beat for TOTY.

I still want to add to the TOTD is any corporate pilot making a fast track to the nearest phone or camera to be interviewed about MH 370 as an "aviation expert". Those guys are so over the top obnoxious it's not even funny.

News teams need to learn the value of talking to at least a LCA who is versed in international and domestic operations. Although Sully is doing well when he is interviewed.
