As far as I can tell, out of the 18 awards a little more than 1/3 are in the PNW, which is great news. Most of the others are from out east or are on the ER and live in base but will now commute to SEA, unless of course they are moving here. But remember that 3 months of nice weather is followed by 9 months of gloomy days.

So for now let the Jumpseat wars between SEA and SLC continue....
I have been commuting from SEA to NYC. Moved to PNW about 1.5 yrs ago knowing someday I could hold SEA. A little surprised how quickly it happened. Any hiccup and I will be the first displaced.

4 reserves required with 9 available in SLC 320B for tomorrow. They have 7 of us on SC. Guess that works to get around the 117 mess until we run out of SC's for the month.

2) The PWA requires a schedule check not before 1500 on your last non fly day but NLT 0200 on your first fly day. Its a check. Acknowledgment is different than a schedule check. Here is what the PWA/SRH states:

So I check my schedule at 1501 the day prior to my first on-call day. I see a trip with an early report that I don't like. I don't acknowledge it. I then log back in sometime within my 10 hours of rest (and prior to 3 hours from sign in) to acknowledge it...and am no longer legal to fly it.

Is it really possible under the PWA to check one's schedule without acknowledging it? I gotta think it's tough to answer the mail on that when the CPO calls.

When I'm on reserve, I'll just keep on setting my alarm for 0155 to check my schedule, until the LOA is done. Gives the negotiators some leverage.

I don't know about that, but before our bankruptcy a bunch of pilots volunteered to take a 5% pay cut to "help" the company out. ALPA said no, you can't do that. Made the company pay it all back. I don't think you can change or waive any part of the PWA unilaterally.

Of course you can get away with anything until someone complains about it.

All modern jets have them, have to. Their failure has rendered a 747, a 787 and other types completely unpowered. My concerns aren't for the 777, but the 787 where truly immense levels of electrical power go through a computer controlled box of mechanical relays.

A dark jet, no nav capability, turn towards land ... been there myself.

Darn. Moved backwards one spot. Just when u get your hopes up for some advancement reality hits again. Even with a bunch of 7er slots avail still sliding backwards on the 73. Otoh it looks like furlough bypass recalls bidding into cat from their assigned base... so if they had been able to just participate in an ae when recalled (like they should have been able to in a smart world) they would have been there a month ago anyways.
So.... I guess I could look at it as I got an extra month before sliding backwards--sweet!

But really, not sliding backwards would be so awesome someday!
