I have to differ with your opinion about the SSP "lifers." Ask anyone at Endeavor and you will likely hear a different story. Most of the complete oddballs never even applied for the SSP interview. MANY great quality people with good track records and respect from their peers have been turned down (even with interview prep.) And at least a few got hired that have a lot of us scratching our heads in disbelief.

Don't put words in my mouth. There are many that are fantastic that are left and will get hired when their chance comes. Particularly the group coming up. Did you even read what I wrote??

100% of the crazies that I know by name interviewed got the down. Meanwhile nothing but good guys have gotten the ok.

Ive also been at the regionals 7 years and made over 30k every year but 1st year. Made over 50k one year. Pay hasn't be the greatest and at times skeds on the CR2 were very tough, but I've loved the job. I've done the cubicle job during college and manual labor during high school.

After those experiences, very grateful to have this job. Especially while having a great breakfast during a 18 hr overnight in YYZ on a 9 leg 25 credit 4 day.

However, if there were "lifers" they would not necessarily have to bid over to Delta (if we were to adopt a System Seniority Number annexation of their list). Sounds like they might not want to. If I were a senior Captain on a familiar jet with a girl friend in Jackson Mississippi (just kidding about the last part).
It's unfortunately true. Delta hiring is finding out what make up the seniors there which is likely similar to other regionals. They are mostly stuck there for a reason with of course a few exceptions. The liability involved would be interesting to see given how bad so many have blown the screening yet go back to fly delta pax.

Again, that's your opinion. I know a few weird ones who have gotten in, and a TON of great ones who didn't (former Mesaba). Unless you know everyone, you can't speak knowledgeably about all of them.

Delta must have substantially changed the interview process, as they weren't very successful at weeding out some of the ExpressJet and PCL crazies from the 2006-2008 timeframe. They seemed to do a good job with the ASA and CMR guys though (about half the new hires during that time).
