Reminds me of a Kinks lyric, "Paranoia the Destroyer" The FAA, F/A's, rampers, mechanics, other pilots, CP guys and Mother Delta et al aren't trying to get you.

This Delta's way of opposing the pre clearance facility? Just don't clear customs, ha!

Ed,

I'm a little junior to you and on the 320 in SLC. On the 320 with your seniority you will get 5-day trips and they are next to impossible to dump or get rid of on the swap board. My lines consist of mostly 5-days or 30 hour layover 3 days. I attempt to do the same thing you are trying and have better luck bidding reserve then personal dropping reserve days than I do dumping the trips I get.

The forthcoming fine will probably take a healthy bite out of the 14Q1 profit!

CBP doesn't take anything lightly... Ouch.

Still funny as hell, IMHO. A little ironic that LHR doesn't have Pre-Clearance and Abu Dhabi does....

Or should I just actually read what Delta says in the 8-K you posted...
Of course they can change their business plan. As a publicly traded corporation they would announce such a change. Have you seen such an announcement? The only one I've seen is the announced addition of 10 A330s and 30 A321 to the growth projection from the 2012 plan. So far the aircraft are arriving as planned, the mainline fleet is growing as planned, as we reclaim flying from DCI as a result of our improved scope language, we are hiring, we have AE after AE with no surpluses, just advancement opportunities which hundreds of pilots are taking advantage of, including hundreds of new captain positions.

So are you saying the same Company that delayed hiring just to squeeze an extra million out of 2103 Q1 profit is going to waste hundreds of thousands (maybe a million?) just to displace?

That math doesn't work.
The AE that was just awarded was mostly reinstatements for the ER. They are using us for the summer in our former positions and then sending us back to whatever we got trained in from our displacement from last summer, so it won't cost the company much at all.

I wish it weren't true but it is. I was optimistic when I asked the question to SD/network because someday I would like to quit commuting, but got an answer that none of us want, but it is also what they said in the Crew Resources newsletter a couple months ago. They are doing "just in time" training right now (their words), where they have just enough people to do the ER schedule for the summer, but will then need those people back in the 73N/320, etc for the fall/winter schedule.

Default A350

Since we are talking about the A350. And my "I stepped through the attic into the hallway repair project" has come to a standstill, interesting article from Businessweek.
