Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
If you are a commuter that uses RJs, and who isn't, then THIS IS THE BAG you want! I bought it specifically to fit into the RJ. It looks like it doesn't, but will clear the door by 1/4" when it's closed. I always just carry my bag on board, and there are tons of empty spots. Or there WERE. Now I'm not sure what will happen...
I can see delays while folks carry rollaboards on trying to fit them, but can't do so.
Of course the fact that we have zero control over growth is completely lost on you... apparently. I guess it's much more fun to be miserable and wallow in that misery on a public forum. Enjoy.
TSquare,
Bid down to the 737. There is so much more to see down low. The smell of flowers, pine trees and freshly mowed grass. Watching female sunbathers and airplanes fly overhead making contrails. If you are nostalgic for your your initial training days, this is the thing to turn back the clock. I'm sure a DC-3 with half the wing blown off flies like a 737-900.
In January, in the middle of winter, we had B/O numbers and were filed for 26,000. I could not believe it, so I hit the new VNAV button, went to the second screen, CRZ (why have one button push when you can have three?) page and yeeerp 26.3 was "optimal." Middle of winter mind you (and it does not know winds higher, so that was not it).
ATL-SFO with weather on the west coast requiring alternates ... b a r e l y.
... then the real insult, we had to slow down to let MD88's out of Salt Lake in front. Apparently when they boot the thing and have that Mach trim pole hitting the sunshade, they're faster than a -900.
That joke about sitting in a dark closet for 5:29 with another man and a vacuum cleaner running is so spot on. And it is always 5:29. Another 60 seconds, but, NO FOOD FOR YOU!
I have yet for ATC to ask if we have had an engine failure, but we're constantly being asked to expedite climb (as if we weren't already thinking about throwing stuff overboard including ourselves).

They did say on previous Crew Resources newsletters that the 7ER needed an increase for summer 14 flying only, and that it's needs would decrease again after the summer... and it's still being retired. In fact, there is a very great risk of being displaced off the ER FO position next fall. Please recall that displacements off the ER this past fall, WHILE we were hiring, caused massive trauma to junior FOs.
Also witness the recent reductions off the 320 as "overstaffed" in AugAE, and then the subsequent spots being opened after min-manning this winter--proof that they have no issue with agressively reducing a cat if they even perceive a slight gain or might be wrong.
With the announced retirement of the ER, and the announced replacement of said aircraft with the 900 (repeatedly claimed in investor conferences and SEC filings as "non-growth"), I would expect that there is a VERY real possibility of folks getting displaced off the ER next fall/winter.
I'm a marginal supporter of the LBP concept, with my concerns being the boondoggle and injustice that would surely occur during a transition to such a system. So don't go all LBP on me

We are picking a fight with Alaska! Great! How bout we pick a fight with Emirates and get some heavy lift on order! All Delta does is rely on our JV partners to fly heavies.
We need some movement at the top and that has nothing to do with being miserable.
Again now go back to reality and post some more naked pictures like you always do!

With all this displacement talk did you guys see that the AE is out with lots of ER vacancies. Even west coast!
But maybe it's a good thing. When they figure out just how badly the RJ experiment has failed, maybe they'll start getting rid of more of the stupid things and we'll get back most of the flying that was taken from us.
Exactly. I predict this will blow up in their faces.

I think it's more likely that either not as many 757s are going, or they are going slower combined with the possibility of upgrades to the 717 coming from the 7ER right seat.
And then to post all these vacancies today to the 7ER again - for a likely Sept or Oct conversion window? Just doesn't make sense that they would get displaced "in the fall".
