It's actually double pay however half the pay will show up as regular credit. The other half which shows up as reroute is pay no credit. If you are due RR pay and the extra legs total 6 hours you will get a additional 12 hours pay total.

Not true. Reroute pay is single pay, no credit, in addition to whatever the rotation would have otherwise been worth.

You're saying the same thing.

Whatever the rotation would otherwise have been worth = Double pay with 1/2 as regular credit

and

Reroute pay is single pay, no credit = Double pay with half shows up as reroute pay.

Maybe. What I'm saying is that, if you are on a rotation that worth 12:00, of which 6:00 is due reroute pay, you will receive 12:00 pay and credit plus 6:00 pay, no credit.

IOW, you get double pay for the portion of the rerouted rotation that is eligible for reroute pay.

I remember reading a study commissioned by PanAm many years ago about life expectancy of long haul pilots. It turns out that those pilots who predominately flew the east/west routes lived on average, seven years less than those pilots who flew the north/south pilots.

Beyond that, I did some research before I retired and found that if a person, regardless of his profession, retired before age 55, he would live a much longer life than he would if he retired at age 65 and beyond. I am guessing that a lot of this had to do with socio-economic issues, but it was an eye opener nonetheless. In the early 1940s, if a person worked to age 65, his average life expectancy was 67.

There is an interesting website called livingto100.com. There is a simple questionnaire you fill out to give you a better idea how long you are going to be on the planet.

Boomer, I think you misinterpreted that 88 thing. What it means is, you will DIE as soon as you get on the MD88!

Or...at least after a few years on that thing, you will WISH you were dead!
