Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
A330.. maybe not yet but soon!
Movin' on up indeed...
Have any of you used Widget Log yet? It's a 117 webpage/app that is easy for DAL pilots to import their schedule into. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot:
www.widgetlog.com
I've had good luck so far with it.

Take a moment to think about what you wrote.
We have little to no retirements ER captain and above. We are parking (according to your post) 63 757s ad 9 to 12 767s.
We have soooo many more 717 captains retiring.
If you were a junior ER captain why would you bid off to a lower paying aircraft? Not to mention a crappier aircraft?
Seniority? Just a guess.... and BTW, one did on this AE.... went to the 737. Not sure what your definition of "crappier" is, but just because something pays more, doesn't make it better. I have zero interest in the 330, but I am thinking you think that in comparison the 767 is "crappier"
Zero displacements is a management fantasy dream.
We have 9 fleets and 8 pilot bases. We have tiny AEs that result in massive training.
And........?
Going forward management has done nothing proactive. They (by their own admission) did not hire a single pilot for FAR 117.
And.......?
Time will tell.
Your post is a big fail.

Thanks T. That's what I was thinking but just couldn't find the right descriptor. The "Big Fail". Jeff Bridges should play the lead in the movie of the same name.
Straight talk from Alaska CEO on "battle" with Delta.
He reiterates the two points I've been making about this:
(1) This is coincidental to problems in Narita and Delta's decision to build Seattle as an International Hub.
(2) Delta wanted greater exclusivity with Alaska's codeshare.
He is correct, "the best defense is performance."
Another interesting observation is made towards the end where the question is brought about raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Of course Horizon (Alaska's Express Carrier) is mentioned straight away and the CEO states unequivocally, if he paid the bottom more he would have to pay the steps up the ladder more to maintain pay equity.
Again, goes to the point that Endeavor's contract does lower the standard here at mainline.

Today is national signing day. Looks like Alabama reloaded again, TSquare should be happy with UT's class, AU didn't do so bad, and UGA will be claiming another decent class.
Yet to be delivered in the next 3 years:
70 717's
90 739's
10 333's
20 321's (the last 10 are 4 years out)
190 airframes
-63 old 752's
________________
127 additional airframes in the next 3 years
I didn't doubt the number at first but good catch, he was short by a couple growth airframes.

I'd feel a lot better about the 88s if they'd say the cockpit upgrades were for sure happening again... OR... better yet... SEA was becoming a NB base.
I think back a couple of years ago to Boise St vs UGA, UGA had all top 10 classes and Boise's were in the 70s. Boise won the game and it wasn't close.
So I'll take coaching > stars.
I think there was a stat that showed there were more high school 2 stars playing in the SB then 4 stars or something.
If the rumor mill is accurate, we may be hearing more on many fronts including the above in the next few months...
2 years from now, the age 65 retirements really start kicking in. The vast majority will be coming off the 777 and 747, but also many off the 330 and 765. With the 330 deliveries starting then, things will move rapidly for everyone. It's a good time to get hired here. We should be hearing from DALPA relatively soon regarding several outstanding issues, and the next contract is right around the corner...

Good AE's for the bottom half... not so much for the top. If one wanted a relatively stable airline (based on today) I'd recommend Delta. If one wants to fly WB, I don't think so.
We are not a WB airline and based on the AE's, I don't think we intend to be one, (at least not in the near future). Just compare any of our AE's to almost any at UAL. 4 765's, no ER's, let alone 777/747/330... last time I checked, not many of our retirees are coming off the 717/320/737/m88... (though they will be, the way things are going). So it doesn't appear Delta has any intention of filling those WB openings.
As far as bidding down to a NB from a WB, maybe a trickle here and there, but I don't see droves of us WB types "volunteering" to return to one of those torture chambers anytime soon... been there, done that.
