The numbers have changed, as they always dO. It was stated 90 was the latest number staying and it would be 3 years to park the retiring 7er aircraft. There is also the possibility that the NBA charter will move to the 757 and up to 15 more airplanes will be kept for year round charter flying for NBA, NHL, and MLB.
When asked about having people return to the 7er only to be displaced our VP of flight ops said with the number of arriving new a/c most displacements would be avoided by people bidding off to new aircraft.
Take it for what it is worth, the plan will change again tomorrow.

It still makes no sense that anyone would ever voluntarily leave the ER for the 737. That would be like divorcing Ashley Judd for Hillary Clinton.

Your numbers are a bit off. We have somewhere around 138 757's actually flying today. That leaves about 63 airframes to be parked. They will be parked over the next 3 years not 18 months. 9 to 12 domestic 767's will also be parked. During that at period we will take delivery of roughly 200 airframes. If we don't have a economic meltdown there will be very few displacements. If we were parking them in the next 18 months there would be no hiring going on.

A disturbing trend I've noticed is, none of the retiring 747/777 Capt's are being replaced. I just looked at the Aug. 2014 Projected Category numbers for the ATL 777 A. It shows down 20 Capts. from today, (157 in Aug, vs. 177 today) and today we are already down 10 from last March (187)....so that's a net -30 ATL 777 Capts over 18mo. No replacements for retirees. Our reserve manning still shows about 5-7 required per day, with double to triple that available, so I guess they'll just keep shrinking it.
Not sure what the DTW 777 A situation is, but they don't look to be gaining any there in that same staffing forcast, so they are not shifting the seats from ATL to DTW, just eliminating them. When is the last time they had an AE with 777/747 Catps?

Exactly! They should all recline that far!
"Hey, how about a neck rub to put me to sleep?"
But seriously, I cannot sleep while sitting bolt upright, and a 3" recline doesn't help much either.
Maybe they should have one side of the aisle seat's all recline wayyyy back, for us "Sleepers" and the other side's seats not recline at all, for the "Laptop Workerbees" ? Or maybe have the back half of the plane's seats all recline deeply, and the window shades all glued shut, and a "No Screaming Babies Allowed" sign, then have the front half of the airplane's seats stuck strait up, for those inflight blogger/workers?

Absolutely. The problem is that we as labor have zero... nada... zip... nunca, control or input as to what airplanes management buys. I guess ya'll will get it when we start parking "bigger".

Srsly, the morons who complain want everyone to sit fully upright for the entire flight. They're also usually the types that fly an entire transcon without getting up even though they wanted an isle seat. When you want to get by they look at you like you're annoying them, then barely do the symbolic knee pull in and expect you to levitate over them, then act annoyed when you accidentally touch them like a big revolving brush in a cheap gas station car wash because those dam laws of physics won't let you melt around them like the mercury guy from terminator.
