With regard to the AE results Feb 4th, I can't believe the incredible amount of awards to the ER.
In the next 18 months we are parking 80 ER aircraft and the 757-200 will be down to 74 airframes.
IMO unless there is a major buyout, 100% of the ER awardees will be displaced by Sept 2015.
The training required will be massive.

When asked about having people return to the 7er only to be displaced our VP of flight ops said with the number of arriving new a/c most displacements would be avoided by people bidding off to new aircraft.
Take it for what it is worth, the plan will change again tomorrow.

My biggest complaint with coach seats is, they don't recline ENOUGH!
I guess she doesn't know to ask for an exit row seat, where the seat in front of you can't recline?

Hey, just wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcomes to Momma D, both on this thread & in PMs. It's made being "on the list" a little more real to me, though Hulas gets a few more months out of me before I escape for good.
As a small token of my appreciation, I'll just leave this right here.

The 330 is not going to "get down to your seniority range". We are only getting 10 more, and that won't happen for 3 or 4 years. What you need to happen is for your range to get up to where it can hold the 330. This is a very important concept that is lost because bigger has to pay more, and we ain't got no bigger. Somebody posted that UAL has been hiring into the 76 for awhile. That is not at all surprising because over there, the 767 is not a big deal, and just goes to prove that I was right when I said that on parallel careers, UAL would be a better choice than DAL if money is your sole object.

Straight talk from Alaska CEO on "battle" with Delta.
He reiterates the two points I've been making about this:
(1) This is coincidental to problems in Narita and Delta's decision to build Seattle as an International Hub.
(2) Delta wanted greater exclusivity with Alaska's codeshare.
He is correct, "the best defense is performance."
Another interesting observation is made towards the end where the question is brought about raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Of course Horizon (Alaska's Express Carrier) is mentioned straight away and the CEO states unequivocally, if he paid the bottom more he would have to pay the steps up the ladder more to maintain pay equity.
Again, goes to the point that Endeavor's contract does lower the standard here at mainline.
