Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Agreed. I once flew with a F/O on the DC-8 for a whole month. On the last trip of the month sitting in a bar a friend of his starts talking about his second Mig kill. This guy flew Thuds, had 2 mig kills, Silver Star and I didn't find out until trip number four at the end of the month. A true soft spoken professional.

I remember flying with Marine who did a tour in a fighter of some type then had to go back and did 6 more months in a helicopter. His through process was " after being shot at in Vietnam for 6 months what could they possibly do to me here."

I had a guy like that who when I attempted to express an opinion that differed from his version related to a Vol 1 procedure (and the latest bulletin) took his left hand and put it over his right epaulet, and then revealed it saying, "Let's see who is right. It's me." He won TOTY.

This is what I remember from the roadshows:
Pilots with 84-hour lines will be unable (and unwilling) to add much flying to their lines, which means that reserves will fly a lot and there will be plenty of GSs in the summer, and pilots with 72-hour lines will be trolling for open time, which means that reserves will not fly much in the winter.
- Difference between summer and winter flying averages 21% (a bit more for int'l and less for domestic)
- Shifting the months brings that down to 17%
- Increasing ALV swing to 72-84 takes care of the 17%

Alan,
Not sure if you were on this board when this whole issue came up. The point that Purple is bringing up is the fact that by decreasing our two most limiting months (manning wise) from 31-30 days was an instant 3.3% productivity gain for the company.
We realize that this will lessen the over-staffing in the winter, but the bottom line is that this was a huge productivity increase for the company.
Our manning was dictated by our most demanding months, July and August. Both have been decreased by 1 day and now March, still at 31 days is our most limiting month.

I always got a kick of asking my FO's if they had ever flown with Capt. so and so. Almost all would reply "you mean employee no. 123456"
Anybody else get a Manual Check yesterday? If so what was it for?
Mine was coded CBA RES & CBA 401K. Thanks

I remember a similar check last year after I returned from long term mil lv and was told something about 401k holdback while inactive. Not sure why it happened again. We're you mil lv?
I just sent an email to payroll asking the question.

The guy at LFI who did my Pvt-Ins-Comm checkrides was a P-40 pilot in WWII and one of the first with jets. I was present when guys at LFI would ask about it but he wouldn't say anything, in private he did mention a mess up he had after a bad preflight on an F-86. But that was it.
My dad had one of the original Vietnam Navy SEALs at his church where he was pastor. My dad spent 30 years in the Navy and this guy never mentioned until 10 years in and then it only came up because they were talking about parachuting.
I usually reserve telling people I flew at Continental Express until the very end, and even then I just say yes, yes I was there, and then stare out the window.
