Is there an official estimate for profit sharing? I've seen the 8% estimate here, but I was wondering if there's something solid we can use when deciding how much to put toward the 401k. Cut off for making the change from 0% to anything else is Jan 22 I believe.

Jughead:

Jughead with FTB in his jumpseat:

FTB after Jughead made him shave and put a uniform on, albeit one borrowed from the back but it was the only one that would fit:

Despite that look on my face, I had a blast, learned as much as my little brain could handle and wrote down the rest.

Thanks Jughead.

If you use them as vacation days for the following year, they become worth 3:15 each. Better to use them to drop regular line trips, if possible, so that they are each worth 5:15 or better.

Had an interesting conversation with a j/s the other day in regards to this years profit and plans for 2015. Here are a few highlights-

Profit for the year north of 2.6B
Continued focus on SEA
VP in place in SEA to grow the flying
ALK not being a good partner
ALPA and Co. Meeting about 117.
DALPA wants door pay (doesn't think that will happen) hire ADC and some other QOL items
Only leverage is guys on reserve following PWA and not acknowledging per memo.
The notes from dALPA have been carefully worded to avoided AMR vs APA lawsuit.

These next two are the most interesting to most
Announced capicity growth of 1.5 to 2.0% this is where it gets interesting
DCI -7% for the year
Mainline + 4%
Hiring to be north of 700 and no plans to stop

Do not expect to see the growth of both of these last two items highlighted. RA is very aware of Wall Streets reaction to airline growth.

Scheduling Guru Question...I used to be able to move RES days around much easier through PCS. I could essentially move things around to work a max of 6, be off for 1, then work 6 more if I so desired. Now trying to do such a thing gives me an error for 30/168. What am I missing? If I start Long Call at 0000, and can't be scheduled for anything before 1200, haven't I just had 36 hours of rest coming off a single X day? Thx.

The PCS computer doesn't see it that way. It only sees the 24 hours of the day off as a rest period. It assumes worst case scenario that you would finish a trip up at 2359 then need 30 hours off and not be eligible for the trip that checks in at 0001. Not realistic but that's the way the system works

The caveat is you can still bid to do 6 on 1 off on the initial bid, or any other 30/168 conflict, it is during the PCS runs it will not allow it.

I think all us wide body pilots who only fly one leg a month, need a Pitts S2 program to keep our stick and rudder skills up to snuff!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZSbRK_Lu08

The odd part in the two incidents mentioned; Asiana in SFO and SW at wrong airport, is that in the first case, they did rely too much on the automation, and in the second case, they seemed to ignore it.

So...which is it; do we need to rely more on automation to find the right airport at night, or ignore it to make a day VFR landing when the ILS is inop?
