Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I also saw a trip where a pilot's rotation started with (as in was originally scheduled) a DH and then another leg which put the pilot past the Max Duty day and required him to fly into his 2 hour extension. This was how it was built... Point being: look out for trips built that have you flying into your 2 hr extension from the get go.
1) 117 only allows FDP extensions for "unforeseen circumstances"... Known weather or traffic delays are not valid excuses for FDP extensions.
2) 117 does not permit extensions for issues that are within the airline's control.
3) If the extension is greater than 30 minutes, the airline must submit a report to the FAA describing the circumstances of the extension, and outline the corrective action to prevent it from happening again. This corrective action must be in place within 30 days.
4) Any pilot that accepts two extensions (greater than 30 minutes) without an intervening 30-hour rest period has violated FARs.
Or so I've heard.

I don't understand why you didn't get the trip. It's my understanding that out of base white slips go out only if the trip is inside of 12 hours and only if no reserve has a YS in or a regular pilot has a WS in for it.
From what I was told, basically the only people the out of base white slips beat out are short call pilots.
I tried to out of base white slip a few months this year and found out that they weren't nearly as easy to get as I thought they would be.

OBWS's are awarded anytime in the manual coverage process. That is anytime after the 7 am window the day prior. In the coverage ladder they fall after in base reserves but before any premium flying.

DAL has no more power to allow for MEL relief not permitted by our contractual language than they had the ability to schedule 16 hour duty days under the old FAR 121 language--the FARs permitted it, but our contract never did.
For that matter the company has no more right to amend our reserve rules or try to ramrod MEL relief for crew rest facilities via memo than they have the right to "adjust" our pay scales via memo.

I'm always amazed at how people with money assume that now they also have class. They way they treat our crews sometimes... I hope they throw the book at this nut job. People with that much money and that little sense should spend their money staying out of public places.
Charge her the full cost of the divert, PLUS compensate each passenger inconvenienced with a nice dinner and a movie (approx. 150 euro each.) Find out if any pax missed a connection/meeting and compensate for that too.

My guess is a change to our PWA to fit the new FARs with nothing in return. Cost neutral is their addiction we have enabled them for years. Wouldn't surprise me if they proposed to change our PWA to fit their needs with a 1% reduction in DC money and another cut of our profit sharing to pay for all the money it cost them to bother to negotiate.
