Ah, yes. The ol triple dipper maneuver. Maybe some more opportunities for that now that we are actually hiring.

Has anybody got a reasonable grasp on what our fleet mix will be two years from now and what the delta is? Has the 757 extension become more than a rumor?

I don't know....I don't think picking up a green slip after an IOE displacement/buy off qualifies as *********** oneself out.

While I agree that guys who traditionally pick up as much time as they can each month probably hurt long term staffing, I don't think guys who pick up the occasional green slip are doing anything wrong. Not like we have guys in furlough or anything.

You're probably right but it does surprise me how many guys we have who would rather come to work than stay home.

The retirement schedules can accessed from a company computer. The old plan always had the 757 in the fleet through 2024. The question is the rate they are retired. My understanding was about 74 airframes would get heavy checks. They would remain in service through 2021 then those 74 airframes would be phased out over 3 years. The planned current retirements seemed to have been slowed down. I don't know if they are getting heavy checks however. There do not seem to have been any major reductions in captains positions in the 757/767 fleet. FO positions are down but we were carrying a big surplus so you can't take away much from that.
It may be they extend some of the airframes until the 321's start arriving. I am not convinced however that airframe is a real 757 replacement. Lots of air buses stopping for gas on transcontinental the week before Xmas including a few new 321's. Winds did however really suck. 175 on the nose over BUF. The 757's were fine however.

Well, they did indeed release me from my trip while I was commuting in - and ^^^^^^^^ is exactly what I plan to do. I have have two little boys waiting for me back home and some football to watch this weekend. Good thing there is a late flight back home. I thought about putting in a slip, but since I'm already working another 4 day on the 1st (yes, I was scheduled to work 8 days in a row in a domestic category - thank you, 117) I'm out if here.

Might not be relevant, but I had a 3 day (part of my award) dropped first week of Jan. I figure it was for 117, I saw it back in open time. Before I called to start screaming, I saw 14 hours of credit on my line with 3 more days off. Thats when my research stopped.
