So I'm scheduled to fly with a LCA tomorrow and the trip is tagged for captain OE. So how does this usually work? Do I show up in the AM and then get sent home, or should I expect a call from someone before that? Yes, I know it's my trip and I'm in the hook until I hear otherwise.
I have a rather long distance commute and this trip would require me to fly out tonight. What are peoples experience with this sort of thing?

Contract question for anyone that knows... I just had the first four legs of a rotation next month dropped due to a FAR conflict with a transition trip from this month. My time card makes it look like I'm only getting paid for the portion I'm actually going to fly. Anybody know if I'm pay protected for the portion that got dropped?
Last two IOE trips I had, either the LCA or IOEr called in sick at the last minute and I had to fly the trip. If skeds doesn't release you, I'd plan on being there. Of course, If you wanna fly, I'd show up, get released, and pick up a greenie. Gotta pay for Christmas!

There is however a gotcha in all this. 117 rules are very different. The contract talks in specific FAR's like 30 in 7. This is one of the things being discussed between DALPA and the company.
It depends on when you picked up the transition trip. If you picked up flying this month that caused the conflict you don't get paid. If it was on your line you should get paid however it won't show up until they close the rotation.

Thank you for another dose of condescension packaged as advice. Perhaps you could conglomerate your posts and turn them into a book: "Master of the Obnoxious: Sanctimonious Ramblings of a Blowhard."
As for me, I will spend my profit sharing check the same as ever: on hookers and blow.

Do you know what caused the illegality? PBS should not have awarded a conflict.
